Would you recognize the signs of a possible G6PD-related hemolytic episode? ๐ฉธ
For someone with G6PD deficiency, certain medications, foods, infections, and other oxidative stressors can cause red blood cells to break down faster than the body can replace them. This is known as hemolysis.
Possible signs can include unusual tiredness or weakness, pale skin, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, shortness of breath, or a rapid heartbeat. Symptoms and severity can vary from person to person.
Knowing the signs is important, but so is knowing your G6PD status, understanding potential triggers, and making sure your healthcare providers know about your deficiency.
๐ Save this post so you can reference the signs later, and share it with someone who should know about G6PD deficiency.
