Using eye drops every day but still struggling with dry eyes?

Dry eye isn't always as simple as not producing enough tears. In fact, one of the most common causes is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), a condition where the tiny oil glands along your eyelids become blocked or stop working properly.

These glands help keep your tears from evaporating too quickly. When they aren't functioning as they should, you may experience burning, irritation, blurry vision, or that constant gritty feeling in your eyes.

The good news? You have options beyond eye drops!

At Luxor Eye Institute, we offer advanced, non-surgical dry eye treatments designed to address underlying causes of your symptoms, rather than just temporarily relieving discomfort.

✨ Drop-free treatment options
✨ Non-surgical procedures
✨ Treatment sessions that typically take less than 30 minutes

Because managing dry eye starts with understanding what's causing it.

Tired of constantly reaching for eye drops? Let our team help you explore a more personalized approach to dry eye relief. Call us at 661-460-7640 or visit the link in our bio to schedule your dry eye consultation at Luxor Eye Institute in Bakersfield!

Good eye health starts with awareness, and we're bringing it into our community! ✨

Luxor Eye Institute was proud to participate in a community health fair in Delano, California, where our team provided vision screenings and connected with local residents!

As a Bakersfield ophthalmology and eye care practice, we believe that educating our community about eye health, routine eye exams, and early detection of vision problems is an important part of helping people protect their sight.

It was wonderful meeting so many community members, answering questions, and sharing the importance of taking care of your vision.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by and to the organizers who made this event possible! We're grateful for every opportunity to give back to the communities we serve. 💙

What actually happens during cataract surgery? 🧐

As we age, the natural lens inside our eye can become cloudy, making everyday things like reading, driving, or seeing fine details more difficult.

During cataract surgery, your surgeon makes a tiny incision, gently breaks up and removes the cloudy lens, and replaces it with a clear artificial lens called an intraocular lens (IOL). The procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes, and most patients return home the same day.

The best part? Your new artificial lens won't develop cataracts, and depending on the lens you choose, you may also be able to reduce your dependence on glasses.

Ready to see clearly again? Call Luxor Eye Institute at (661) 460-7640 or visit the link in our bio to schedule your cataract consultation and explore your lens options.

Your under-eyes can be one of the first places to show changes in your skin. 👇

That’s because the skin around your eyes is naturally thinner and more delicate. As collagen and elastin decrease over time, you may start to notice crepey texture, fine lines, or skin that doesn’t feel as firm as it once did.

Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to deliver controlled energy beneath the skin, stimulating your body’s natural collagen production and helping improve firmness and texture over time.

The goal isn’t to change how you look. It’s to help the skin around your eyes look smoother, firmer, and refreshed.

Curious if Morpheus8 is right for your under-eyes? Schedule a beauty assessment with Luxor Eye Institute through the link in our bio or call us at (661) 460-7640 and let’s create a treatment plan for your skin.

A corneal transplant doesn’t always mean replacing the entire cornea. 👁️

The cornea is made up of several layers, and sometimes only one of those layers is damaged. That’s why modern corneal surgery can be much more targeted.

Procedures like DSAEK replace the damaged inner layers of the cornea, while DALK replaces the affected outer and middle layers while preserving the healthy inner layer. The goal is to treat the part of the cornea causing the problem while keeping healthy tissue whenever possible.

At Luxor Eye Institute, Dr. Kouchouk offers multiple corneal transplant techniques so treatment can be tailored to what your eye actually needs.

Have you been told you may need a corneal transplant? Come find out what your options really are. Visit the link in our bio or give us a call at (661) 460-7640 to schedule a corneal consultation.

How to trigger your eye doctor in one sentence: “I noticed new flashes and floaters, but I figured I’d wait and see.” 😅👀

Some vision changes are worth taking seriously.

A sudden increase in floaters, new flashes of light, or a dark curtain or shadow in your vision can sometimes be signs of a retinal tear or detachment; even if your eye doesn’t hurt.

So while “I’ll give it a few days” might work for some things, sudden changes in your vision aren’t one of them.

If something suddenly looks different, get your eyes checked promptly. Your retina will thank you. Visit the link in our bio or give us a call at (661) 460-7640 to schedule an evaluation.

What happens when the lens from a previous eye surgery moves out of place? 🧐

An implanted lens can sometimes shift or lose the support that keeps it properly positioned. And while that may sound complicated, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re out of options.

Depending on what’s happening inside the eye, advanced surgical techniques may allow the lens to be repositioned, secured, or replaced.

At Luxor Eye Institute, Dr. Kouchouk evaluates complex cases like these to understand what changed and determine the right approach for your eyes.

If your vision has changed after a previous eye surgery, it’s worth taking a closer look.

Born to say: “I hope you stay in focus.” 🥹
Forced to say: “Punctal plug secured. Tear film improved.” 🔬

Punctal plugs are tiny devices placed in the tear ducts to help keep your natural tears on the surface of your eyes longer. For the right patient, they can be a simple way to improve tear retention and provide relief from persistent dry eye symptoms.

Because sometimes “I care about you” sounds a little different at the eye doctor.

Dealing with dry, irritated, or gritty eyes? Visit the link in our bio or give us a call at (661) 460-7640 to schedule a dry eye evaluation at Luxor Eye Institute.
