People really love a winner story, and what they most want to hear is “I’m doing great now...”

And the reality is that once you’re diagnosed with something serious like cancer, it never leaves you; it’s always there in the back of my mind.

Maybe that’s partly what makes life precious, because you never know how long you have.

Everything on these slides came from somewhere specific, either from a patient who taught me something, or from a decision I made myself and would make differently now.

If you’re looking for a great cut and color and so much more in Carbondale, Bloom Carbondale Collective Carolyn Clough🇵🇸 is worth the drive from anywhere in the Valley in my opinion!

I love Carolyn, who is super skilled and an awesome human, and the space is really lovely.

Bloom Carbondale Collective is on Merrill Ave, just off of the downtown core, and they do color and cuts along with skin and facial work. While I was there I got to hear about all the exciting community events and classes they’re planning as well!

I spend most of my week paying attention to other people, so handing myself over to someone else for an afternoon is its own kind of care.

Walked out feeling like me again.

Carbondale has been putting on Potato Day for more than a hundred years, and it still feels like the entire valley lands in one park for the afternoon.

The parade down Main Street, the harvest lunch in Sopris Park, live music, kids' games, people you haven't seen since summer.

If you are the one reading this on behalf of a parent, here is what I would tell you.

Diabetes related neuropathy gets treated as something to that just gets worse overtime, and most people never hear that the nerve function and discomfort can improve!

Getting blood sugar into a stable range is the foundation, and that part belongs with their medical doctor.

What acupuncture adds is direct work on the nerves that run to the hands and feet.

Nerve damage is not necessarily permanent, and there is usually room to work with, even years in.

Even a partial change matters here, because it can mean walking across a room without watching the floor.

Although I never guarantee outcomes, I would rather someone hear their options now than after years of deciding on their own that nothing is going to change.
