If you’ll be out and about celebrating All Hallows’ Eve, keep yourself and your loved ones safe with these tips:

· Make sure costumes, especially those for children, don’t obstruct vision or present a tripping hazard.
· Accompany your children while trick-or-treating, even in your own neighborhood.
· Remind older kids who may go out on their own not to take rides from or go into the homes of people they don’t know, including that “friend of a friend.”
· Make sure you have a flashlight 🔦 and attach reflective tape or a blinking light to kids’ costumes so they’re visible to cars.
· If you’re behind the wheel, reduce your speed, keep your eyes peeled for little ones and most importantly, NEVER drink and drive.
· If you’re drinking, designate a driver and keep your drink with you at all times.
· Keep pets inside! Even cats who spend lots of time outside can get scared by loud, boisterous groups and run into traffic.

But, respiratory virus season is lurking...are you ready? If not, now is the perfect time to start protecting yourself and your family from the common cold, flu, RSV, bronchitis and other bugs. 🦠

💉 Get vaccinated! Nearly everyone 6 months or older should get the flu shot, which is safe, accessible, greatly reduces your risk of catching the flu and prevents severe illness if you do get sick. Adults and high-risk children should consider the COVID-19 vaccine, and certain children and older adults should receive the RSV vaccine. 🥗 Fuel your body. Eat a healthy, balanced diet, drink plenty of water 💧, get adequate sleep 😴 and exercise regularly to give your immune system a boost.

🧼 Practice good hand hygiene. Wash frequently, especially after using the bathroom, before preparing or eating food and after touching your face or shared surfaces. Teach your kiddos proper washing technique, too! 👧👦

☀️ The sun's out and summer is at its apex! Don't forget: too much time outside can be dangerous if you don't protect yourself from UV rays 🔆 and dehydration 💧.

A tan might look healthy, but the ultraviolet (UV) radiation that gives you that temporary glow also contributes to premature aging, increases the risk of some cancers, and can cause severe burns 🥵. The heat also makes dehydration a risk, which can cause many unpleasant symptoms that prevent you from enjoying yourself.

So, if you're going to be out in the heat, protect your health with these tips: ✅

🌳 Stay in the shade most of the time.
🧴 Never leave your house without putting on sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 and reapply regularly (especially if you're in and out of water).
👕 Wear clothes made out of light fabrics that cover your arms and legs.
