Before a ketamine session, we ask one simple question: What would you like to feel more of?

That answer becomes your intention. It isn't a goal you have to hit or a result you need to make happen. It's a direction you can come back to.

It doesn't need to be long, profound, or perfectly worded. One word is enough. Ease. Clarity. Safety. Connection. Self-trust.

And when things feel unfamiliar, during a session or in the days after, your intention is something steady to return to.

At Elixir, preparation isn't a formality. Your provider reviews your intention with you before every session, so you walk in grounded and supported. It's one part of how our Ketamine Assisted Therapy Program is built: preparation, the session itself, and integration support afterward.

A lot of people walk into their first ketamine session thinking they need to do it "right." Set the perfect intention. Stay in control. Make something happen.

You don't.

At Elixir, your only job during the session is to stay open and curious. Your provider handles the rest:
→ Reviewing your intention with you beforehand
→ Helping you settle in and get comfortable
→ Monitoring your vitals throughout
→ Staying with you as a steady, supportive presence
→ Guiding you gently back afterward

You're never left alone in the room. And the work doesn't end when the session does. Integration support continues in the days and weeks that follow.

The session is one part of the work. What happens in the days after matters just as much.

After a ketamine experience, we ask clients to protect the rest of that day and the two days that follow. No packed schedule. No rushing back into full speed. Just rest, quiet, and room to notice what comes up.

That might be vivid dreams, waves of emotion, new questions, or a sense of something shifting. There's no need to figure it all out right away. Integration continues well beyond the session itself, and it needs space to land.

A few ways to make room:
→ Keep your calendar light
→ Plan time outside or in a calm space
→ Journal what you notice
→ Return to your daily practice, simply and steadily

At Elixir, ketamine is never a stand-alone experience. Preparation, integration support, and guidance are built around every session.

Tired isn't just tired. When your energy drops, how you wake up, and what actually helps can all tell you something, if you know how to listen.

Before your next appointment, try tracking these four things for a week:

01 · Timing: When does your energy drop? Morning, mid-afternoon, or evening?
02 · Waking: Do you wake up rested, or already tired before the day starts?
03 · The week: Do stressful stretches leave you drained for days afterward?
04 · Relief: What actually helps? A walk, a nap, a quiet evening, or nothing at all?

Jot down what you notice. There's no need to interpret it yet. Patterns are easier to read once you know what to look for.

Our Fatigue Masterclass: Burnout to Balance walks through four common drivers of fatigue (adrenal and nervous system, thyroid, iron, and chronic stress) so you can connect what you're noticing to better questions for your provider.

Maybe your sleep is off. Your energy crashes by mid-afternoon. You feel wired at night and drained by morning. And every time you try to pin down the reason, you only get part of the answer.

Fatigue rarely comes from just one place. Stress, thyroid, iron, and your adrenal and nervous system can all play a role, and they often influence each other. When each one is looked at in isolation, the bigger picture can get lost.

That's why our Fatigue Masterclass: Burnout to Balance looks at all four together, so you can understand how they connect and walk into your next appointment ready to ask for the fuller picture.

You're tired in a way sleep doesn't fix. You bring it up at your appointment, and you leave without a clear next step.

It's not that you asked the wrong thing. Fatigue rarely has just one source.

Our Fatigue Masterclass: Burnout to Balance walks through four common drivers:

→ Adrenal and nervous system
→ Thyroid
→ Iron
→ Chronic stress

For each one, you'll learn which labs to ask your provider about, what those labs actually look at, and how to advocate for the fuller picture.

You don't need to walk in with answers. Just better questions.

Most people considering ketamine-assisted therapy have read a lot about it and still don't know what the day itself looks like. These are the questions that come up most.

Will I be alone? No. A trained provider stays with you the whole time — monitoring, present, available if you need anything. You're not left in a room with a timer.

How many sessions? We recommend three or more. The exact number and the spacing between them are decided with your medical provider. Some people move quickly, some want weeks in between. Both are legitimate.

Is it just the medicine? No. Screening labs come first, then two preparation sessions, then the sessions themselves, then integration work with a KAT-trained provider. The medicine is one part of a longer structure.

What if I'm nervous? Common, and not a sign you're not ready. Preparation exists precisely because arriving grounded matters.

If you've been circling this for a while without deciding anything, that's a normal place to be standing.

You sit down and something in you keeps scanning. You take the afternoon off and spend it thinking about Monday. You go on vacation and it takes four days to stop bracing — right around the time you have to come home.

Most people read that as a personal failing. A discipline problem. Something they should be better at by now.

It usually isn't. Rest isn't a skill you're missing. It's a state your body will only enter when it has reason to believe stopping is safe — and if you've spent years staying ready, that belief takes some rebuilding.

Which is also why the usual advice doesn't stick. A meditation app, an earlier bedtime, a better morning routine — those are fine tools, but they're being handed to a system that isn't in a position to use them yet. The order matters.

Dr. Calley Asbill's free on-demand webinar, How to Get Out of Overdrive and into Ease, walks through why this happens and what a reset actually asks for.

You're at the dinner table. You're on the call. You're sitting across from someone you love. Physically, you're right there.

But your mind? It's already drafting the reply, rehearsing tomorrow, scanning the next thing on the list. And the moment actually in front of you — the one you can't get back — quietly slips past while you're somewhere else.

This is the hidden cost of living three steps ahead. It's not that you don't care. It's that a nervous system trained to always be planning, solving, and bracing struggles to just land in the present. Being here starts to feel unnatural.

The good news: presence is trainable. Not by trying harder to focus, but by helping your system feel safe enough to stop scanning. When the bracing eases, being here gets easier — and the moments you've been missing start to come back into focus.

Want to understand why "just be present" is so hard when you're wired for overdrive — and what actually helps?

Look at how a normal day is actually built. Meeting straight into meeting. Laptop closed, dinner started. Car door, front door, "hi, how was everyone's day," while some part of you is still finishing the thing you left forty seconds ago.

Nothing gets a proper ending. And because nothing ends, your body doesn't get the one piece of information it's waiting for — that it can put this down now.

So it stays braced. Not dramatically. Just enough that you arrive everywhere slightly behind yourself.

The fix is smaller than people expect. Walk to the door a little slower. Sit in the parked car for three breaths before you go in. Stand in line without reaching for your phone. Ten minutes total across a whole day, spent on nothing in particular.

That's not another wellness habit to keep up with. It's giving your system a place to land between one thing and the next — which is often what makes the rest of it possible.
