There is so much more to midwifery than the moment a baby is born.

It’s the preparation, the hours before, that empowering moment, the care that continues after birth, and all the little things behind the scenes that help a family feel supported.

And sometimes it looks like carrying everything but the kitchen sink out to the car. (Not pictured 1 other bag) 😂.

Being able to offer care where families feel heard, respected, and supported through every part of their journey is what makes this work so meaningful. I am forever grateful. 🦋 👣🏡

You moved through labor with such strength and determination, supported by the steady love of your husband and mom. Leaning over the kitchen counter and hanging onto your husband in a standing squat became your favorite ways to work through each wave, listening to your body and finding moments to rest when you needed them.

Back labor asked so much of you, but gentle touch, the grounding words of scripture, and the love surrounding you helped carry you through each moment.

And when the time came, you welcomed your sweet son into the world. Your strength was never about doing it all on your own, but about continuing to find your way forward, surrounded by love and support.

Happy Midwifery Week!

Somehow, this little gesture has become part of how I care. Gently holding a face, making eye contact, or a simple touch to ground someone through a contraction.

Maybe it’s just my little way of saying, I’m here. You’re not doing this alone.

The smallest moments of midwifery often mean the most.

So grateful for this work and for every person who trusts me to be there. I’m empowered by you!

Two days of learning, growing, and getting hands-on with POCUS (point-of-care ultrasound)!

I had the opportunity to learn alongside three wonderful midwives Melissa, Claire, and Madeline with the guidance of Kristan, another wonderful midwife whose patience and kindness made this training such a wonderful experience. And A heartfelt thank you to McKenzie River Gynecology for holding space for us to learn, and to all the volunteer clients who generously shared their time and allowed us to practice and grow.

I learned SO much, and I’m excited to bring this knowledge, education, and refinement back to Evermore and share it with our clients when it’s needed.

There is always more to learn in this work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue growing my skills and expanding what I can offer the families in my care.

I love creating space for someone to feel safe, informed, and completely themselves in their birth. It’s never about telling someone how to birth, it’s about offering the support and safety to help them find their own way.
