Our Countryside Public Health SHIP Coordinators Ashlie & Hannah are attending the National Safe Routes to School Conference, connecting with others from across the country and exploring creative ways to make walking, biking, and traveling to school safer and more accessible for students and families.

We’re excited to see how these ideas can help support healthier, safer communities right here in our five-county region!

🌾 To our farm families: We see you, and we appreciate you!

As harvest season rolls on across western Minnesota, we know the days are long, the to-do lists are endless, and the work doesn't stop when the sun goes down.

In the middle of this busy season, here's a gentle reminder to take care of yourself, too:
βœ… Drink water
βœ… Grab a good meal
βœ… Rest when you can
βœ… Check in on the people around you.

Harvest takes hard work, patience, and a whole lot of dedication!
Your health and well-being matter just as much as the work you're doing!

Stay safe out there, and here's to a safe and successful finish to harvest! 🌽🚜

🧼🫧 Happy Global Handwashing Day!

Clean hands make a big difference! Washing your hands with soap and water is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs and protect yourself and those around you.

Remember to wash your hands before eating, after using the bathroom, after coughing or sneezing, and whenever they're dirty.

πŸ’§ Wet. Lather. Scrub for 20 seconds. Rinse. Dry.

A small habit that makes a BIG difference in keeping our families and communities healthy!

πŸ”Ž Measles Awareness: Know the Signs

With an increase in measles cases reported in Minnesota, it's a good time to familiarize yourself with the symptoms and ways to protect your family.

Measles is highly contagious and can spread through the air, even before a rash appears. Symptoms often begin with a high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash.

What can you do?
βœ”οΈ Know the signs and symptoms.
βœ”οΈ Make sure you and your family are up to date on MMR vaccinations.
βœ”οΈ If you suspect measles, stay home and call your healthcare provider before visiting a clinic to help prevent further exposure.

Staying informed helps keep our communities healthy!
Questions about signs or vaccines?
Reach out to your healthcare provider or a Countryside Public Health
nurse at 1-800-657-3291.

πŸ’™ In difficult times, the care and compassion we show one another matter more than ever.

When someone is grieving, we don't always know what to say or do. But small acts of kindness, a listening ear, and simply being present can make a meaningful difference.

A little compassion can go a long way. Take a moment to check in on a friend, neighbor, or loved one. Sometimes, a simple "I'm thinking of you" means more than you know.

Be kind. Check in. Be there for one another. πŸ’™

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Awareness is more than wearing pink. It’s knowing your risk, staying up to date with recommended screening, and talking with your healthcare provider if you notice changes.

Take a moment this month to:
πŸ’• Learn about your family history
πŸ“… Ask when breast cancer screening is recommended for you
🩺 Speak up about any changes or concerns

Early detection matters! Make breast health part of taking care of you.
