I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if this is for you, you’re welcome.
1. Recognize: recognize that you’re feeling sorrow, loneliness, sadness. Name the feelings. Write them down. Talk out loud about them. Write them down. ask yourself questions: why do I feel this way, what am I looking for, who do I miss, what do I miss about them?
Allow yourself to go into that depth. Yes, it hurts. Yes, it’s uncomfortable. And yet, so many times we suppress our feelings and don’t allow our self to really truly feel.
2. Remember. Remember Him. There was someone years ago that experienced the exact pain, sorrow, sadness, depth of emotion, experiences that you’re experiencing. He asked for it. He wanted it. He wanted to know exactly how YOU felt, and he felt it in the garden and on the cross. On the cross, he etched your name, your being, your soul on His hands, feet, and side. He did that so he would always remember YOU. He carried YOUR burden. He carried YOUR sorrow. He carried YOUR sadness and loneliness.
Why?
So that when you are sad, you’ll have someone that will be sad with you. When you are lonely, you’ll have someone always by your side. So that when you are discouraged, you’ll have a hand that you’ll be able to reach out and grab! So that when you want to fell, and simply sit with your emotions, you’ll have someone to sit with. He’s there.
All it takes is a prayer to the Father asking you to recognize Him. It might be in a butterfly that floats past. It might be in a text from loved one at just the right time. It might be from observing the quiet shining clouds gently float by. Just remember that He is there and all it takes is for us to recognize that.
I know this is a medical account… I just can’t think of a better physician to turn to…
