Do’s & Don’ts of Retinol
Retinol is the ultimate powerhouse for smooth, glowing, youth boosting skin, but only if you use it correctly! Here is your quick cheat sheet to getting all the benefits without the dreaded irritation:
DO:
Start slow & steady: Begin 2–3 nights a week and gradually build tolerance.
Apply to dry skin: Moisture can increase absorption and trigger unwanted irritation.
Use a pea-sized amount: A little goes a long way for your entire face!
Layer with moisturizer: Try the "sandwich method" (moisturizer → retinol → moisturizer) if you have sensitive skin.
Wear SPF daily: Retinol increases sun sensitivity, making daily sunscreen non-negotiable.
DON’T:
Don't use it every night immediately: Jumping in too fast leads to redness, peeling, and a compromised skin barrier.
Don't mix with active acids: Skip AHA/BHA exfoliants, Vitamin C, or benzoyl peroxide in the same evening routine.
Don't forget the neck & chest: Extend the love, but use an even lighter touch on delicate areas.
