Losing weight can change your face more than you might expect. Hollow cheeks, sunken temples, and more noticeable wrinkles are all common signs of facial volume loss.

So should you replace that lost volume with filler or your own fat?

Both can give great results, but they serve different purposes. Fillers are ideal when we need precise adjustments with minimal downtime, while facial fat grafting can be a better long-term option for patients who have lost significant volume and want to avoid repeated filler appointments.

One of the biggest advantages of fat grafting is that the fat that survives can remain for years, making it an option worth considering for patients looking for longer-lasting facial rejuvenation.

Under-eye bags aren’t always caused by poor sleep, stress, or getting older. For some people, the fat pads beneath the eyes naturally protrude forward, creating puffiness that can make you look tired even when you’re well-rested.

When genetics are the cause, eye creams and extra sleep won’t eliminate the underlying fat pads.

For younger patients with good skin elasticity, lower blepharoplasty can often be performed through an incision hidden inside the lower eyelid, avoiding visible external scars. Patients with excess skin or weakened supporting tissues may require a different surgical approach.

The earlier you develop eye bags doesn’t necessarily mean you need surgery sooner, but it may affect which treatment options are available to you.

Gynecomastia, or enlarged male breast tissue, is more common than many men realize, and it’s not always something that can be corrected with diet and exercise.

When excess glandular tissue is the cause, even patients who are lean and physically active may struggle with unwanted fullness in the chest.

For this patient, gynecomastia surgery helped create a flatter, more masculine chest contour while maintaining natural proportions. The goal is to address the underlying tissue, not simply remove fat.

One of the biggest reasons I have to turn patients away from fat grafting because they don’t have enough fat.

With more patients staying lean or experiencing significant weight loss, there may not be enough donor fat for procedures that add volume to areas like the breasts, chest, hips, buttocks, shoulders or calves.

Top surgery isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither are the questions patients have before surgery.

For transfeminine patients considering breast augmentation, we’ll talk about implant size and type, whether your anatomy can safely accommodate the size you want, and where your incisions and scars will be.

For transmasculine patients, one of the biggest considerations is scar placement. The technique and resulting scars depend heavily on how much existing breast tissue and skin you have.

These may sound like the same questions I hear from my cisgender patients, but there are important anatomical and surgical considerations that can make top surgery very different.

This patient underwent submental liposuction to remove stubborn fat beneath the chin and create a cleaner, more defined transition between the jawline and neck.

Submental fat can be frustrating because it isn’t always related to weight and may stick around even with diet and exercise. For the right patient, chin liposuction can directly target that area while keeping the result looking natural and balanced with the rest of the face.

This patient came to me after a previous tummy tuck left his abdominal anatomy distorted, including a belly button that had been pulled extremely low toward the groin.

I was able to restore the anatomy, reposition and reconstruct the belly button, and recreate a more natural contour through the abdomen and waist.

Revision surgery can be much more challenging than starting from scratch because you’re working with existing scars, altered anatomy, and decisions made during the first operation.

Really happy with how we were able to restore a much more natural-looking abdomen for him. 👏
