Happy Friday, from one of my favorite teachers. 💗
Happiness is something you recognize. You don't create it.
We spend so much energy trying to make happiness happen. The perfect sweater. The new car. The trip.
But happiness is already here, in moments we walk right past.
Every day in my yoga room, I look out at the huge tree across the street. I watch the wind move its leaves. And I feel happy to be alive with it in that moment.
On my trip to Cape Cod last week, we had lunch by the ocean, and I turned to my partner and said, "I'm really happy right now."
Nothing special happened. I just noticed.
If you've ever tried to go for a walk with a two-year-old, you know what I mean. They stop for every ladybug. We're busy trying to get somewhere, and they're busy being in the only place that exists.
So here is my practice for you this week:
Notice when you're happy. Say it out loud, even just to yourself.
When did you last catch yourself being happy? Tell me in the comments 💗
Jai!
