Nadine Thomas has been working in the healthcare field for over 50 years, and she's spent the last 3 years at NaphCare. Nadine works as a Health Services Administrator (HSA) in Gwinnet County (GA). When she got the call for an interview almost 4 years ago, she was curious as to what working in a jail would be like. To her surprise, the facility was, in her words, "just like a high school campus with people walking around," and no different from the hospitals she was used to. Nadine's background is in licensing and accreditation, which has helped her in forming relationships with our partners in Gwinnett County (GA). When it was time for her promotion to HSA, Nadine says she leaned on her NaphCare support system in Courtney Lassister and David Crawford for guidance, and that having them as a resource made a big difference. She believes it's her duty to mentor young nurses and prepare them to be HSAs one day. Nadine has saved many lives during her tenure in correctional healthcare, and we're proud to have her on .

NaphCare will be attending the National Conference on Correctional Healthcare, hosted by National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC). We’re excited to join colleagues and our partners as we celebrate 50 years of this event.

NaphCare is pleased to announce that TechCare, our corrections-specific electronic health record system, has received Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances (EPCS) certification.

TechCare’s EPCS certification enables authorized providers to electronically send controlled-substance prescriptions to pharmacy partners, streamlining communication and supporting treatment for patients with opioid use disorder in correctional settings.

As part of the certification process, TechCare was independently evaluated for compliance with federal EPCS requirements. The review assessed safeguards related to authorized user access, electronic prescription signing, recordkeeping, audit trails, and the accurate recording, storage, and transmission of required prescription information.

This milestone reflects our continued investment in technology built specifically for correctional healthcare and the collaboration among our clinical, pharmacy, and technology teams.
