Mahima Reddy, a graduate student mentored by Adam R. Wende, Ph.D., Professor, Molecular and Cellular Pathology, received first place for the Most Outstanding Poster Presenter at the 13th Annual UAB Comprehensive Cardiovascular Center Symposium for her poster, titled, "O-GlcNAc-MCT4-Lactate Axis Links Cardiomyocyte Metabolic Remodeling to Macrophage Activation in Diabetic Heart Failure."

We're pleased to share this month’s Molecular Case of the Month, “MDM2: The Gatekeeper of p53 and Cancer Progression,” presented by Mayowa Adekiitan, M.D., PGY2.

In this educational video, Dr. Adekiitan discusses the biological role of MDM2 in p53 tumor suppressor pathway, and its significance in tumorigenesis. The presentation also reviews the diagnostic approaches used to detect MDM2 amplification and highlights emerging therapeutic strategies targeting MDM2 in cancer. This video was recorded during Dr. Adekiitan’s molecular pathology rotation in the Division of Genomic Diagnostics & Bioinformatics.
