🐴💚 **LARRY MONDAY!** 💚🐴

**When a Larry has a project to finish… and a Yogi has other plans!** 😂

Meet Amy, our very own **Larry personality** according to the Horses Helping Humans personality theory!

Larrys are our organizers. They love structure, planning, details, and making sure things are done just right. 📏

And Amy? Well, she understood the assignment! 😂

I had been saving our empty horse feed bags because they had such beautiful horses on them. Amy decided to give those cold metal barn walls a little warmth and personality!

But she didn't just hang them up. Oh, no! She carefully measured each bag, flattened it, arranged them, and made sure they fit perfectly together.

**A Larry in her element!** 💚

Meanwhile… meet Augustus, our resident **Yogi personality!** 🐴

Yogis are our playful motivators! They love interaction, fun, and encouraging others to join in.

And Augustus apparently decided Amy had been working long enough!

While Amy was busy measuring and organizing, Augustus stuck his enormous Percheron head right through the window.

**"Amy! Enough organizing! Come play with me!"** 😂🐴

And just like that, the Larry's carefully planned project had a Yogi-sized interruption!

💚 **That's what we love about the Horses Helping Humans personality theory.**

Larry brings organization, structure, and attention to detail.

Yogi brings playfulness, motivation, and a reminder to have a little fun along the way.

Neither personality is better than the other. They simply bring different strengths to the moment.

And sometimes, the best thing for a busy Larry is a Yogi reminding them to stop working and enjoy a little connection. 💚

🐴 **Which one sounds more like you?**

📏 **Larry:** "Let me finish getting everything just right!"

😂 **Yogi:** "Forget the measuring tape! Let's have some fun!"

What’s going on at IHHH? We’ve just submitted our application to become a nonprofit! 💚🐴

Indiana Horses Helping Humans has had more than just my time. It has my heart, blood, sweat, and tears. And not just mine. Terry, Amy, and Rebecca have poured so much of themselves into bringing this dream to life. There is a part of each of us in what you see here.

And the horses have been working hard, too. They’ve been so patient and willing as we’ve learned and worked together—even through the summer heat. We're all so proud of them.

Letting go of sole ownership is scary. It means trusting others with a dream I’ve held close and everything that has gone into building it.

I’ve chosen a board of people I trust to love and care for IHHH as much as I do, alongside me. I’ll still be here, putting my heart into it, with others helping carry the responsibility for its future.

IHHH needs funding beyond what we can continue providing ourselves. Pursuing nonprofit status will help us seek grants and charitable support to care for our horses, sustain our programs, offer Pay-It-Forward scholarships, and improve accessibility.

What makes this decision worth it is why I started:

“My heart in creating Indiana Horses Helping Humans is to meet people in the places life has left them standing alone—through illness, grief, trauma, or circumstances they never chose. Wherever that place is, the horses and I will meet you there.”

There are people we haven’t met yet who are the reason to keep going.

Terry, Amy, and Rebecca—thank you for putting your hearts into this with me. To our board, thank you for caring for something that means so much to us. And to everyone who has believed in IHHH, thank you for helping us get here.

The heart behind IHHH is the same. Now there are more of us to help it grow. 💚🐴

🐎 Wellness Wednesday

Autumn offers a gentle reminder:

It reminds us how beautiful it is to let things go, our nervous system sometimes takes a little convincing. That's a process we are educated through the Sue Spence method to gently guide you through with her combined 25 years of expertise. Its subtle, refreshing and helps you gain confidence through the process.

As the trees release their leaves, we might ask ourselves, “What am I carrying that I could give myself permission to put down?” How might that look and feel in the body? How might we learn a new story, a new way to work through challenges, find our strengths and provide positive, new meanings that leaves room for who we are at our roots.

Letting go can happen slowly. We can honor what mattered, feel what we feel, and make a little room for rest.

Try this small practice this week:

🍁Return to your surroundings. Spend a few quiet moments outside. Notice the colors, the air, and the ground beneath your feet.
Offer yourself a gentler thought. “I can care deeply without carrying everything.” Or, “I am allowed to move through change at my own pace.”

💚 At Indiana Horses Helping Humans, our four horseanality types help us explore how differently we respond to change. In line with Sue Spence’s approach to the four temperaments, we learn to recognize our responses under pressure and understand ourselves and others with more compassion.
Some of us want to take charge, some seek connection, some need time to reflect, and some find comfort in steadiness. Our horses work alongside us as we explore these patterns and practice moving through transitions with more ease, confidence, and respect for our own needs.

You don’t have to rush into the next season of your life. Sometimes, today’s self care is simply setting one thing down.

Message us to book a session.

🔥 **The bonfire may be over, but the memories are still coming in!** 💚📸

After sharing that we missed capturing so many moments from the evening, you sent us more photos—and we’re so glad you did! We're happy to share a few of them here.

From the glow of the bonfire 🔥 to the kids enjoying the night, and some of the people and moments in between, these pictures give us a little more of the evening to hold onto.

There’s something special about seeing the night through everyone else’s eyes—the laughter, the fun, the fire, and friends and family simply enjoying being together.

**These are the moments we want to remember.** 💛

Thank you again to everyone who joined us for our **4th Annual IHHH Bonfire** and to those who have shared their pictures with us.

📸 **And keep them coming!** If you have photos from the evening, send them our way. We’d love to keep adding to our IHHH memories. 🐴💚🔥

🔥 WHAT A NIGHT! 🔥

Our 4th Annual Indiana Horses Helping Humans Bonfire is officially in the books, and our hearts are full. 💚🐴

Some of the best moments never made it into pictures—we were too busy visiting, laughing, dancing, and enjoying the bonfire to even think about our phones! 📸

So many people gathered around the fire on a crisp fall evening, sharing laughter, conversation, music, and plenty of dancing. And yes… the Do Si Dough made its appearance! 💃🕺🔥

🎶 As always, the Dad Bods were AMAZING! We are so grateful they made the trip from Kentucky to spend another evening with us. They kept the music going and gave us plenty of reasons to get up and dance.

🍖 DW’s Smokehouse rolled in with the BBQ pit and food truck, serving up some authentic pit BBQ while the adults sipped their favorite adult beverages. Meanwhile, the kids had their own kind of perfect evening—music, dancing, running around, and, of course… ice cream! 🍦

But our favorite part wasn’t the food, the music, or even the bonfire.

It was the people. 💚

To our local community and to the friends and family who traveled from near and far—from Toledo, Ohio, to St. Charles, Missouri—thank you for showing up, laughing with us, dancing with us, gathering around the fire, and supporting what we are building here at IHHH.

These are the nights that remind us that IHHH is about more than horses and programs.

It’s about connection. It’s about community. And it’s about creating a place where people can simply come together and belong. 🐴💚

Thank you for making our 4th Annual IHHH Bonfire one we’ll remember.

And apparently… next year we need to designate someone as the official photographer. 😂📸

Did you take pictures or videos? Please send them to us in a private message! We’d love to see the moments we missed and add them to our IHHH memories. 💚

Until next year… 🔥🐴🎶

Thank you from all of us at Indiana Horses Helping Humans.

What a privilege it was to see something so uniquely touching.

There's was something different about yesterday's experiences that require a special explanation, because mostly it left us speechless.

Horses don't use words. Their mind doesn't judge and seperate, they are in tune with energy. Theres no forming thoughts, that tend to get in the way of honest perception for us people. And that's why what occured yesterday was awe striking.

These gueldings met a beautiful person and leaned in. They met him right where he was and instantly softened. Their eyes relaxed, they said, yes this is a safe soul, one I want to move with. They didn't form opinions, nothing performative, just pure connection.

Trust, Safety and Respect read on our banner. And you can see the Joy impermiating our reflection.

Theres something that can be felt here.

Horses give us the opportunity to be accepted as we are, without demanding an explanation, a conversation, or a different version of ourselves. We can arrive tired, grieving, unsure, or joyful. We can be quiet and still have a connection. There is something beautiful about sharing space with another being and feeling that your presence is enough, that you are enough just for simply being here.

What we learn alongside the horses comes with us into our lives: a little more understanding, a little more room for each other, and the possibility of connection where we can feel accepted as we are.

Sometimes acceptance looks like this. Walking alongside someone, moving at their speed, and enjoying their company exactly as they are, without demanding they be different.

We spent the day with a special soul whose resilience and grit mean so much to us. Our horses met him where he was. There was no hurry, no demand to keep up. Through time together, a special bond formed. 💚

Different personalities. Different strengths. One stronger herd. 💚

Just like our horses, we each bring something unique to the people around us. Some lead, some nurture, some organize… and some remind us to laugh and keep going. 😉

There’s room for all of us in the herd. 🐴💚

🌸 Mindy Friday 🌸

Our Mindy horse is based on one of the four temperament types: Melancholic—the gentle, thoughtful nurturer who feels deeply and cares deeply. 💗

Mindy reminds us that you can be soft and still be strong.

For the natural nurturers—the ones who notice everyone else’s feelings, want others to feel cared for, and sometimes have a hard time saying no—it can be easy to shrink your body, hold your breath, or make yourself smaller when you’re uncomfortable.

But Mindy teaches us something different:

You don’t have to become hard to become confident.

Stand a little taller.
Give your body some space.
Let your shoulders relax.
Take that full Jelly Belly breath and breathe all the way out. 🌿

Your words can remain kind while your body says, “I mean what I say.”

That’s one of the beautiful lessons we practice with the horses—learning to notice what our breath, body language, and energy are communicating before we ever say a word. 🐴

And for all of our Mindys who spend so much time caring for everyone else, remember:

✨ Your strength is in your stance and soft energy. ✨

You can be gentle without disappearing.
You can be caring and still have boundaries.
You can be soft and strong.

That’s Mindy strength. 💗💪

CANCER WELLNESS MINI-RETREATS🐴🎀
Finding Peace Through Horses

DID YOU KNOW?

Research is beginning to explore something horse people have felt for a long time—the connection we experience with horses may have a meaningful place in cancer survivorship and emotional recovery.

In one small study, cancer survivors participated in a 10-week program involving unmounted activities with horses and group support. Researchers found improvement in quality of life, while participants’ experiences centered around connection, reclaiming positive emotions, resilience, and developing a new sense of self.

Other research involving breast-cancer survivors has also reported encouraging findings in areas such as quality of life, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and body image following structured equine programs.

Medical care tends to the body, and mental-health support can help tend to the mind—but there is also a meaningful place for the quiet connection found beside a horse. Growing research is beginning to explore how equine experiences support emotional well-being and quality of life during and after the cancer journey.

Sometimes there is fear. Sometimes grief. Sometimes exhaustion. Sometimes the feeling that life has changed in ways other people can’t quite understand.

And sometimes what we need is simply a safe place to breathe, reconnect, and not stand there alone.

That is the heart behind our October 10 Cancer Wellness Mini-Retreat.

We aren’t asking the horses to fix anything.
We’re simply allowing them to meet you where you are.

“There are places in life where people are left standing alone. The horses and I will meet you there.” 🤍

Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
