📅 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month! 💛
Endometriosis is a condition where endometrial-like tissue grows outside the uterus in the pelvis, causing inflammation and nociceptive pain—similar to other pain disorders. What makes it unique is how pelvic pain can trigger pain responses in other reproductive, urogenital, and bowel organs. This "cross-talk" of pelvic organs is common in any pelvic pain condition. As the pelvic floor muscles tighten, it also leads to a somatic pain response.
As Dr. Carey explains, the tightening of pelvic floor muscles leads to a somatic pain response. It's essential to understand that there are multiple pain generators at play, and all must be addressed for effective care. At its core, endometriosis is an inflammatory condition.

🌸 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 🌸
Did you know? Endometriosis pain isn't just about painful periods. Dr. Erin Carey reveals how this condition can evolve into a complex pain profile for reproductive-age women .Over time, the pain transforms as it becomes more centralized, impacting different areas.
Pain can start in the lower abdomen, radiate to the lower back, legs, and even cause bladder or bowel symptoms. Many women also experience pain during menstruation and intercourse.
Understanding how endometriosis pain changes is crucial for better care and support. Let’s raise awareness this month and support those affected! 💛

➡️For women veterans struggling with chronic pain, menopause, and PTSD, finding effective, non-pharmacological treatment options is crucial. Acupuncture can be a powerful solution, but its success depends on how it's applied.
Felice Indindoli, DAC, LAC, Dipl Ac NCCAOM explains that different acupuncture techniques can target specific issues—such as using particular methods to address anxiety or PTSD, and others to manage pain and menopause symptoms. This conservative, safe approach offers veterans valuable options to manage their conditions without relying on medications.
