3 years in business. đŸ€

I’m kicking off year FOUR of Happy Latch Lactation Co.!

Three years of meeting amazing families, navigating the challenges that come with owning a small business, and continuing to learn & grow into the IBCLC I want to be.

I’m so grateful for every family who has trusted me with such an important part of their journey! As for every referral, recommendation, share, and kind word, THANK YOU. It has helped Happy Latch grow into what it is today.

Here’s to year 4.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a really great one. đŸ©·

Head-turn preference—
Does baby consistently prefer looking one direction? This can give me clues about tension, positioning preferences, how baby is using their body during feeding, and what adjustments can optimize feedings.

Face structure & head shape—
Facial symmetry or asymmetry, jaw shape, the cheeks, the chin, the lips. All of it can give me helpful information about how feedings are going.

Baby’s movement, demeanor, and comfort level—
I’m watching more than just what baby’s mouth does at the breast. I’m looking at how they move, extend or crunch, and how they settle into a feeding. These are all crucial assessments when talking about infant feeding.

Baby’s oral function while feeding—
Not just an oral function assessment with my finger in your baby’s mouth. And definitely not just “does the baby have a tongue tie?” I’m looking at the whole process of feeding and how the tongue, jaw, cheeks, lips, and palate are working together.

YOU—
You are part of the dyad. Your posture. Your breathing. Your comfort level. How you’re holding your baby. Where you might look tense. What your body is telling me while you feed.

Feeding isn’t just about how the latch looks.

I’m looking at the whole picture—your baby, you, feeding mechanics, and everything that could be contributing to what you’re experiencing!

Much of breastfeeding is a learned experience, but I do think there’s so much value in knowing what to expect, knowing what’s actually normal, and knowing when something isn’t going quite right before you’re actually in the moment.

That’s why I created The Confident Start — a two-part live prenatal breastfeeding experience. We’re going to cover the all those questions that so many pregnant and new moms ask me about. Plus, you’ll receive access to my on-demand latching class that you can watch close to your due date so it’s fresh when you actually need it.

This is for you if...
* You’re pregnant and planning to breastfeed
* This is your first baby and you’re not sure what to expect
* You’ve breastfed before but want to feel more prepared this time
* You had a difficult breastfeeding experience previously
* You want your partner or support person to understand what those early days may look like
* You want practical information without feeling overwhelmed by everything you could learn before baby arrives

I would love for you to join me đŸ€

Growth can look different.
And for me, growing doesn’t mean expanding into the largest lactation practice in town.

For me, growth looks like—

Searching for continuing education at 9pm because something came up during a consultation that I want to expand my knowledge on.

Putting together resources that make my client’s lives easier.

Referring a family to someone who specializes in something outside my scope and then learning from that referral.

My goal is to never stop learning and growing—not just for myself, but so I can continue bringing the most up-to-date information, resources, and support to the families I care for.

I’ve definitely thought about what it would look like to have a large bustling practice with multiple IBCLCs working under me. But if I’m being completely honest, the longer I’m in business, the more I realize I don’t want to grow away from the things I love most.

I want to be the one sitting on the couch with you.

I want to hear your whole story from start to finish.

I want to be the one assessing, troubleshooting, and care planning.

I want to celebrate the tiny wins with you and be there to listen on the hard days.

That’s why I built Happy Latch Lactation Co.
This was never just about the consultation.

It’s always been about getting to know the mama, the baby, the family I’m supporting, the whole story.

That’s the kind of growth I’ll keep on chasing. đŸ€

If feeding feels harder than you expected, your baby seems uncomfortable, or you keep wondering—Is this actually supposed to be like this? It’s okay question what you’ve been told is normal.

You don’t need to wait for a major problem to seek support. Sometimes a closer look is all it takes to figure out what could be working better.

Common isn’t the same thing as normal or optimal. đŸ€

My consultations are never rushed.

My care plans are focused on your specific situation and always include anticipatory guidance—because I don’t just want to solve today’s problem. I want you to know what to expect next.

I will overshare. 😆

We will probably laugh
and it’s totally okay if you cry, too.

I’m a small business owner and this is my job, but more importantly it’s my passion I pour my heart and soul into.

And that’s exactly what you’ll get when I’m your IBCLC. đŸ©·
