October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and while our work focuses on pancreatic cancer, we know that cancer doesn't exist in a silo.

Today, we’re standing with breast cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and families, and with everyone whose life has been changed by cancer. 💗💜

Different cancers. Different experiences. But so many of the same needs: support, compassion, information, research, and hope.

At NPCF, we believe every person facing cancer deserves to feel seen, supported, and surrounded by people who care.

This month, we’re honoring the breast cancer community and everyone walking a cancer journey.

Some days, you need answers.
Some days, you need quiet.
Some days, you need someone to listen.
And some days, you just need a normal day.

When you’re navigating pancreatic cancer as a patient, caregiver, or loved one, what you need can change from one day to the next.

There’s no right way to feel. No perfect thing to say. And no need to explain why today feels different.

Sometimes the most meaningful support is simply asking:

“What do you need today?”

And then meeting someone right where they are.

Today, I need… What would you choose? Share a word in the comments if you feel comfortable. Or save this as a reminder to check in with someone you love.

Sometimes the hardest part of a cancer diagnosis is knowing what to ask.

So here's your reminder:

You are allowed to ask your oncologist, “What would you do if this were your family member?”

You're also allowed to ask:

💜 “Can you explain that in a different way?”
💜 “What are my options?”
💜 “What are the benefits and risks?”
💜 “What would you recommend, and why?”
💜 “Would a second opinion be helpful?”

You don't have to know all the medical terminology. You don't have to have the perfect questions ready before you walk into the appointment.

Ask. Take notes. Bring someone with you. Speak up when you don't understand.

Your healthcare team brings the medical expertise, but you deserve to be an active part of the conversation about your care.

And if you need to hear it today: asking questions isn't being difficult. It's being informed.

Cancer doesn't just take a toll on the body.

Sometimes, it leaves you emotionally and mentally running on empty, too.

You might be tired of appointments.
Tired of answering questions.
Tired of making decisions.
Tired of talking about cancer.
Tired of trying to be “strong.”

And you might feel guilty for feeling that way.

But burnout doesn't mean you're giving up. It means you've been carrying a lot.

If you recognize yourself in this post, consider telling someone on your care team how you're feeling. You don't have to push through everything alone, and asking for support isn't a sign of weakness.

Sometimes taking care of yourself means admitting, “I need a break.”

You deserve support for the emotional weight of cancer, too.

A cancer diagnosis can make it feel like suddenly there are a thousand things to figure out.

Treatment. Symptoms. Nutrition. Appointments. Emotions. Questions. Decisions.

But here’s something you may not hear often enough:

You don’t have to navigate all of it with one person.

Your care team can include oncologists, surgeons, nurses, dietitians, social workers, palliative and supportive care specialists, advocates, caregivers, and others who each bring a different kind of expertise and support.

And you’re allowed to ask for help building that team.

You’re allowed to ask questions.
You’re allowed to ask for another opinion.
You’re allowed to say, “I need more support.”
You’re allowed to want care that considers more than just the cancer.

Because you are more than your diagnosis, and your care should support the whole person.

You don't have to navigate this alone. National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation has resources to support you.

A new chapter in pancreatic cancer treatment.

On August 26, the FDA approved Rasonque (daraxonrasib), a new targeted treatment option for certain adults with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Why does that matter?

Because progress matters.

In clinical research, Rasonque showed a meaningful improvement in median overall survival compared with standard chemotherapy. It represents another treatment option, and another step forward in a disease that desperately needs more options.

But this isn’t the finish line.

It’s a reminder of what research can make possible. And why we have to keep asking questions, funding discovery, and pushing for better treatments, earlier detection, and better outcomes.

One new treatment won’t change everything.

But every step forward gives us another reason to keep going.

Some of the most important work happens when no one is watching.

The early mornings.
The long appointments.
The late nights in the lab.
The quiet moments of caregiving.
The difficult conversations.
The advocacy.
The decision to keep showing up, even when it’s hard.

This Labor Day, we’re recognizing the patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, advocates, and volunteers whose work matters far beyond what most people ever see.

Every act of showing up moves us closer to a future with better answers, better care, and more hope for people facing pancreatic cancer.

Today, we see you. We appreciate you. And we’re grateful for the work you do.

People don't give because they don't care.

They give because they do.

Because someone they love was diagnosed.
Because they want another family to have more answers.
Because they believe research can change the future.
Because they want patients to feel less alone.
Because they know that change doesn't happen without people willing to make it happen.

That's the power of charity.

Not the act of giving.
The possibility created by it.
