A little behind the scenes of my week:

caramel apple pie frappe
client meetings
networking
perhaps another caramel apple pie frappe
benefits questions
explaining things in plain language
and probably one moment where I said, “Okay, send that to me and I’ll take a look.”

That’s the part people don’t always see. A lot of this work happens in the in-between moments… answering questions, helping people sort through confusion, and making benefits feel a little less overwhelming.

It’s busy, but it’s good work.

And yes, the coffee is absolutely part of the strategy.

A few things I wish more employers knew:

Your employees care about more than what the plan says on paper. They care about whether they feel supported when they actually need to use it.

Confusion costs more time than people realize. One unanswered question somehow turns into five emails, two phone calls, and one stressed-out HR person.

And your broker should not disappear after enrollment like a magician at the end of a trick.

Benefits work better when people have support, clear answers, and someone they can actually reach.

Not exactly a radical concept, but here we are.

People ask why I care so much about benefits education, and honestly… because I’ve seen what happens when people don’t understand their coverage.

I hate when employees feel embarrassed to ask questions. I hate when someone gets a bill and thinks they’re just supposed to magically know what to do next. And I really hate when people feel like they have no one to call.

That’s why I want employees to come to me directly. Ask the question. Send the bill. Let’s figure it out before it turns into a full-blown stress event.

And yes, small teams matter to me too. Five employees still means five people trying to take care of themselves and their families.

That matters. Always.

Throwback to my Route 422 Business Advisor spotlight.

It was a great opportunity to share more about what I do, why I care so much about benefits education, and how I help employers and individuals find coverage that truly fits their needs.

One of the biggest things I want people to know is that my support does not end once a plan is chosen. I believe people deserve guidance, answers, and someone they can turn to when benefits get confusing.

Grateful for the feature and for every client, referral partner, and local connection who continues to trust me with these important conversations.

I had a great time on The Coop Tank (CooperTalk radio) talking about what I do and why I care so much about this work.

One of the biggest things I shared is that I really love helping people understand how to actually use their insurance, not just sign up for it. I also talked about working with small business owners to find benefits solutions that make sense for their team and their budget.

Benefits can feel overwhelming, but they do not have to stay that way.

I’m grateful for the chance to share more about my story, what I’ve learned, and why I do this work the way I do.

October is when health insurance decisions start to feel real.

Open enrollment is right around the corner for a lot of people, and this is usually the time when health insurance moves from the back burner to the top of the list.

If you’re an employer, it’s a good time to make sure your team understands what’s changing, what their options are, and where to go with questions.

If you’re choosing coverage for yourself or your family, this is the time to slow down and really look at the details, not just the monthly premium.

A little extra attention now can save a lot of confusion later.

Health insurance decisions are rarely anyone’s favorite fall activity, but they do matter. And having clear answers makes a big difference.

I had the opportunity to be featured on the Tri-County Radio Show, and it was such a great conversation.

We talked about employee benefits, the challenges employers and employees face when coverage feels confusing, and why I care so much about making benefits easier to understand and use.

This work has never been just about enrollment for me. It has always been about helping people feel more supported, more informed, and more confident in the benefits decisions they are making.

I’m grateful for the chance to share more about what I do and why I do it.

Networking has taught me that every business owner is carrying more than most people realize.

When you spend time in rooms with other entrepreneurs, you hear the real conversations. The pressure, the problem-solving, the responsibility, the care they have for their employees, and the constant balancing act of trying to do right by people while still making smart business decisions.

That is one of the reasons I value networking so much.

I love meeting other business owners, hearing their stories, learning what matters to them, and understanding what they are navigating behind the scenes.

It is also a reminder that business is built on relationships.

Not perfect elevator pitches. Not polished sales talk. Real relationships.

And being in those rooms with other entrepreneurs always reminds me how much heart there is behind small businesses.
