What glimmers have you noticed lately? Glimmers invite us to connect with the life around us instead of dwelling in the virtual world of thoughts. It’s an invitation to shift from head to body and heart🙏❤️

A glimmer: a moment when the mind softens its grip and we come back to what is here.

This was my glimmer today. 🌿

I had been caught in the virtual world of thinking—questions, worries, trying to figure things out—and then I paused. I lay on a bench beneath the canopy of trees and simply listened.

The birds, the vibration of sound, the breeze moving across my skin, the warmth of the sun coming through the leaves and then the coolness of shadow. I could feel myself coming back into my body and into what was actually here.

Nothing needed to be solved. There was simply more space.

Sometimes a glimmer is this small moment of coming home to ourselves and to the living world around us.

This morning we explored Welcoming Ourselves Home.

So often the parts of ourselves that long most for kindness are the very parts we’ve pushed away—out of fear, shame, grief, or the belief that they were somehow too much or not enough.

David Whyte’s words remind us that the journey isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about apprenticing ourselves to ourselves. Learning to listen to what has been hidden. Welcoming back what we’ve sent away. Becoming a hospitable presence for every part of our own heart.

Perhaps this is one of the deepest expressions of mindfulness and loving-kindness—not fixing ourselves, but coming home to ourselves.

May we continue to discover the quiet courage to become a door through which every part of our being is welcomed home.

Special Sunday Sangha Guest: Dr. Gus Castellanos 🌿

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Gus Castellanos, a retired neurologist, sleep specialist, long-time mindfulness practitioner, and experienced MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher, as our special guest this Sunday.

Dr. Gus brings a unique blend of scientific understanding and contemplative practice. He has spent decades exploring the intersection of neuroscience, mindfulness, sleep, well-being, and human flourishing.

This will be an opportunity not only to practice together, but also to engage in an open discussion and ask questions such as:

✨ How does mindfulness change the brain?
✨ What is neuroplasticity, and how can practice support healing and resilience?
✨ What does neuroscience tell us about stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation?
✨ How does meditation affect sleep, attention, and overall health?
✨ What have decades of mindfulness practice taught him about living with greater wisdom and compassion?

Whether you are new to mindfulness or have been practicing for years, this promises to be an engaging and enriching conversation.

This is what I shared in our mindfulness meditation circle this morning.

Right now there is so much suffering in our world.

So how do we hold space for this — for our own suffering and the suffering of others?

Part of the practice is having compassion for ourselves, because it is hard. And compassion for everyone else who is going through something tragic in this moment.

It touches all of us — whether we are right there close to it and it is happening to us, or we are witnessing it through the many ways we receive news and information.

The last stanza of this poem by Warsan Shire captures this so powerfully.

In times like these, the practice is not to turn away, but to stay present — resting in awareness, letting the heart remain open, and allowing our response to come from love rather than fear.
