❤️ Your Blood Pressure Could Be High…And You'd Never Know!

Feeling perfectly fine? That's great! But here's something you might not realize: High blood pressure often has NO noticeable symptoms. 😳

That's why it's often called the silent killer.

You could be going about your day, feeling completely normal, while elevated blood pressure quietly puts extra strain on your heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and brain.

🩺 Here's what you should know:

❤️ High blood pressure can develop at any age.

❤️ You don't have to feel dizzy or have a headache for your blood pressure to be elevated.

❤️ Left untreated, it increases your risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, and other serious health problems.

❤️ The only reliable way to know your blood pressure is to actually check it!

And here's the good news: High blood pressure is often manageable with lifestyle changes, medication when needed, and regular monitoring.

💙 At Manatee Direct Primary Care, we believe prevention is just as important as treatment.

Kathleen Trocki, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, can help you understand your numbers, identify potential risks, and create a personalized plan to protect your long-term health.

Because feeling healthy and knowing you're healthy aren't always the same thing. 💙

🎀 **Breast Cancer Awareness: What Should You Actually Be Checking?**

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and while we all know how important early detection is, do you know what changes to look for?

Breast cancer doesn't always announce itself with a lump. Sometimes, the signs are much more subtle.

💕 **Here's what to pay attention to:**

🎀 A new lump or thickening in the breast or underarm

🎀 Changes in breast size, shape, or appearance

🎀 Skin dimpling, puckering, or unusual redness

🎀 Ni**le discharge (especially if it's bloody)

🎀 A ni**le that suddenly turns inward

🎀 Persistent breast or ni**le pain

**And here's something important: You don't have to notice a symptom for breast cancer to be present.** That's why routine mammograms and knowing your personal risk factors matter!

Most women at average risk should begin mammograms at age 40, but your personal and family history may change when screening is recommended.

💙 **At Manatee Direct Primary Care, your health is personal.**

Kathleen Trocki, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, is here to listen to your concerns, discuss your risk factors, and help you stay on top of recommended screenings.

Because taking care of yourself isn't something you should put off. 💕

FemiLift: What Can It Help With? 💙

Changes after childbirth, aging, or menopause can affect your vaginal and urinary health in ways you may not have expected—and they’re not always easy to talk about.

FemiLift is a minimally invasive CO₂ laser treatment designed to support feminine health and may help with concerns such as:

✨ Vaginal dryness, irritation, or itching
✨ Discomfort during intimacy
✨ A feeling of vaginal looseness or heaviness
✨ Urinary leakage or urgency
✨ Changes that affect your comfort and confidence

Treatment is performed right in the office, requires no surgery or anesthesia, and typically takes just 10–15 minutes with little to no downtime.

Not sure if FemiLift is right for you? Kathleen is happy to talk through what you’re experiencing and help determine your options.

📞 Call Manatee Direct Primary Care at (941) 541-3857 to schedule a private consultation.

Why Am I Suddenly Leaking When I Cough or Sneeze? 😳

You cough. You sneeze. You laugh a little too hard. Maybe you jump, run, or exercise.

And suddenly…you leak a little.

It’s called stress urinary incontinence, and it’s incredibly common—especially after childbirth and during the menopause transition.

Changes in pelvic floor support and vaginal tissues can make it harder to control those little leaks when pressure is put on the bladder.

The good news? Common doesn’t mean you just have to live with it.

Kathleen knows these symptoms can feel awkward to bring up, but they’re conversations she has with women all the time.

At Manatee Direct Primary Care, you can talk openly about what you’re experiencing and learn about options that may help—including FemiLift, a minimally invasive CO₂ laser treatment that may help improve mild stress urinary incontinence and support vaginal health.

No embarrassment. No judgment. Just a real conversation about what’s going on and what options might be right for you. 💙

🦠 Back-to-school germs have entered the chat.

The backpacks are packed, the routines are finally coming together…and suddenly someone has a sore throat, runny nose, cough, or fever. 😅

The first few weeks of school bring a whole lot of kids—and a whole lot of germs—back together.

A few simple things can help:
• Wash hands often
• Don’t share drinks or water bottles
• Prioritize sleep (yes, even when bedtime is a battle!)
• Keep sick kids home when they need time to recover
• And when you’re not sure whether it’s “just a bug” or something that needs a closer look, give us a call.

At Manatee Direct Primary Care, we’re here to help your family get through the back-to-school germ swap with a little less stress. 💙

Turning 40 doesn’t mean something suddenly changes overnight—but it is a good time to get a little more intentional about preventive care. 💙

Here are 5 screenings you shouldn’t skip after 40:

🩺 Blood Pressure
High blood pressure often has no symptoms, which is why regular checks matter.

🩸 Cholesterol
Knowing your numbers can help identify your risk for heart disease and stroke early.

🍬 Diabetes Screening
Blood sugar and A1C testing can catch prediabetes or diabetes before you realize something is wrong.

🎀 Breast Cancer Screening
For women at average risk, routine mammograms are recommended beginning at age 40.

🩺 Colon Cancer Screening
For most adults at average risk, colorectal cancer screening begins at 45.

Preventive care isn’t about looking for something to be wrong. It’s about knowing where your health stands today—and catching changes early when they’re often easier to address.

Not sure which screenings you’re due for? We can help you figure it out.

The first day of school has a way of sneaking up on all of us. 🍎📚

🎒 Back-to-school is right around the corner, and that means it’s time to stock up on school supplies, sharpen those pencils… and check those backpacks!

A backpack shouldn’t weigh more than 10–15% of your child’s body weight. Carrying too much can lead to neck, shoulder, and back pain, poor posture, and even headaches.

Here are a few quick tips:

✔️ Pack only what they need each day.

✔️ Place heavier items closest to the back.

✔️ Encourage them to use both shoulder straps instead of slinging it over one shoulder.

✔️ Adjust the straps so the backpack sits snugly in the middle of the back—not hanging low.

A few small adjustments now can help prevent aches and pains all school year long.

📞 Have questions about your child’s health or need to schedule a wellness visit? Give Manatee Direct Primary Care a call. We’re here to help your family stay healthy this school year.

✈️ Heading out on vacation? Don’t forget one of the most important things in your suitcase—your medications!

A few simple tips can help keep your trip stress-free:

💊 Pack enough medication for your entire trip, plus a few extra days.

👜 Keep medications in your carry-on if you’re flying.

🏷️ Leave prescription medications in their original labeled containers.

🌡️ Avoid leaving medications in a hot car, as extreme heat can affect some medications.

📋 Carry a list of your medications in case of an emergency.

A little planning goes a long way toward a safe and healthy vacation. Have a wonderful trip! ☀️🌴

😴 Why Am I Waking Up Every Night at 3 A.M.?

If you’re finding yourself awake around 2 or 3 in the morning night after night, you’re not alone.

While stress can certainly play a role, waking up during the night may also be linked to:

✨ Hormone changes
🦋 Thyroid imbalance
🌡️ Perimenopause or menopause
😟 Anxiety
☕ Caffeine or alcohol too close to bedtime

You don’t have to accept poor sleep as “just part of getting older.”

A good night’s sleep is essential for your energy, mood, memory, and overall health—and finding the cause is the first step toward better rest. 💙

At Manatee Direct Primary Care, we take the time to look beyond the symptoms and help you uncover what’s really going on.
