Thank you UC Health for hosting Foundations in Dry Needling last weekend! This group was such a wonderful mix of clinical experiences which provided such dynamic discussion about different clinical applications and patient popluations dry needling can be affective for! Plus the positive energy in the room -ALL WEEKEND- was unbeatable.
I can't wait to see you all back for Beyond Foundations!

Infraspinatus! Oh how we love thee!

This muscle is a powerhouse game changer with shoulder dysfunction.

With it's 3 distinct muscle fiber directions (that have separate innervations) it has a huge impact on glenohumeral stability and motor control. It is often a pain generator (referring to the anterior shoulder). AND it is commonly involved with postural dysfunction and C5 pathologies. It doesn't come without its risks, as the scapula is a mobile back drop.

Clinically, the use of dry needling with different patient populations and different diagnoses has been growing exponentially. It's so great to see research catching up to what clinicians have been seeing in the clinic!

This study investigates DN on ambulatory children (ages 6-12) with cerebral palsy, combined with traditional rehab and compares it to traditional rehab alone.

Both groups made significant improvements in spasticity, gross motor function, and functional mobility over a 12 week period.
👊The DN group reported greater improvements with moderate differences across all outcomes.

😎OT's are so much fun! We had a great time at the annual Occupational Therapy Association of Colorado Conference last weekend.
⚡️OT's are EXCITED for dry needling to be in their practice act in Colorado and we can't wait to welcome them on our courses!
📆OT's can begin using DN in Colorado Sept 1, 2027. OT's can take any of our courses, including our new Foundations in Dry Needling for the Upper Extremity Specialist course! The first offering of this new course will be in August 2027, just in time for OT's in Colorado to begin using this amazing tool!
