Did you know your diaphragm and pelvic floor work together when you breathe?
As you inhale, your diaphragm moves down and your pelvic floor gently lengthens. As you exhale, both move back up. Becoming aware of this rhythm can be a helpful starting point for connecting with your pelvic floor.
Try this five-breath reset:
1. Sit comfortably or lie on your back with your knees bent.
2. Place one hand on your lower ribs and one on your belly.
3. Breathe in through your nose for about four counts.
4. Breathe out slowly for about six counts.
5. Repeat five times, allowing your body to relax naturally.
No forcing. No squeezing. Just breathe. Save this exercise to revisit when you need a quiet moment. If you experience pelvic pain, leaking, or heaviness, a pelvic floor physical therapist can help you find an approach suited to your needs.
