At some point, you realize you simply do not have to keep doing things you don’t enjoy. Menopause is a pretty good time to leave some of that behind.

What are you officially done doing? 👏

We laugh so we don't cry 😂😭

Perimenopause can start as early as your mid-30s and last up to 10 years.

It's the transition phase before menopause, and it's when most of the symptoms actually show up, such as sleep issues, mood changes, hot flashes, brain fog, and more.

Most women don't actually learn about it until they're already deep in it.

You don't have to wait until your periods stop to get help. If something feels off, it's not too early to check in with a provider who specializes in perimenopause.

Menopause has been the punchline for decades. Women going “crazy,” becoming difficult, losing their femininity, suddenly being old or irrelevant. Those ideas didn’t come out of nowhere.

For years, that’s what people saw on screen. And when the same stereotypes get repeated over and over, they start to shape how menopause is understood in real life too.

A 2025 study from the Geena Davis Institute looked at 225 popular films featuring women over 40. Only 6% mentioned menopause at all, and when it did show up, it was often brief or played for laughs.

The same study found that women’s anger was often written off as menopause, reinforcing the stereotype that menopausal women are irrational or emotionally out of control.

Menopause has rarely been shown with much nuance, and for many people, movies and TV are part of their first exposure to what menopause even is.

THIS is why representation matters. Menopause deserves a storyline bigger than a punchline.

Menopause has never been more visible, and yet, the care around it still hasn’t caught up.

Research is growing, and menopause is getting more attention from policymakers than ever before.

But awareness is growing faster than access, training, and treatment.

For something that affects so many women, menopause care still depends far too much on whether you happen to find the right information, provider, or the right support.

This is the gap we still need to close.

What does it take to build a billion-dollar women's health company? Our COO and General Counsel, Lauren Darisse, tackled this question on a panel at this week's Women's Health Horizons Summit.

One of the key points she emphasized was that there's no shortage of great ideas or unmet needs in women's health. The challenge is turning those ideas into sustainable, scalable businesses that make a meaningful difference.

But beyond building successful companies, Lauren raised an important question: Are we fundamentally changing how women experience healthcare, or simply creating new ways to navigate a system that hasn't served them well?

There's a lot of exciting momentum in women's health right now, but momentum and meaningful progress aren't necessarily the same thing.

The real measure of progress is how much we're improving the experience of healthcare for women.

Why do some menopause symptoms fade after your final period while others show up for the first time? It comes down to how your hormones behave at each stage. 👇

In perimenopause, estrogen doesn't decline in a straight line. It rises and falls unpredictably, sometimes spiking higher than it was in your 30s before dropping again. Those swings are a big reason mood and sleep can feel so erratic during this stage.

After menopause, which is confirmed once you've gone 12 months without a period, estrogen settles at a consistently low level.

Symptoms driven by those ups and downs often start to calm down. Changes driven by low estrogen itself, like shifts in vaginal tissue and bone density, tend to keep progressing unless they're treated.

That's why the right support can look different depending on where you are.

Your care should change as your body does. If your symptoms have shifted, it's worth revisiting your treatment with a menopause-informed provider.

You spend so much time keeping up with everything and everyone else. Consider this your reminder that checking in with yourself deserves a spot on the list, too.

Menopause can bring changes that are easy to chalk up to stress, getting older, or just having a lot going on. But you don’t have to wait until something becomes impossible to ignore before taking it seriously.

You’re allowed to make yourself a priority before you’ve reached your breaking point. 🌻
