Sleep is often the first thing to go. That's why we measure it from day one.

Across JLC's state-funded eTMS programs, average insomnia severity scores dropped 59.7% from the first to the latest assessment (ISI).

A look back at our FOX 28 feature from April 2026.

Retired Assistant Fire Chief K.J. Watts and JLC’s Tasha Noice joined the news team to explain eTMS and demonstrate what treatment looks like.

The story focused on Ohio. Eligible veterans, first responders and law enforcement officers can receive state-funded eTMS at no cost in both Ohio and Florida. Program eligibility and a clinical evaluation determine access.

“Trust the process.”

It is Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters spend their careers protecting everyone else. Their own sleep and mental health matter too.

K.J. Watts, now retired from the Whitehall Division of Fire, entered the eTMS program with questions and skepticism. He says he began sleeping better, experiencing less mental chatter, and feeling a greater sense of calm. His wife noticed a difference, too.

For K.J., those changes carried into everyday life: thinking more clearly, responding more calmly as a leader, and feeling better equipped to support the people who depend on him.

This is one person’s experience. Individual results vary.

Matt and David are representing the eTMS Program in Orlando, Florida! 🙌

As eTMS Peer Mentors, they had the opportunity to present at the CFCJA presentation and share more about our program, the people we serve, and the support available through eTMS.

Peer Mentors bring something especially important to these conversations — real experience, connection, and an understanding of what it can feel like to ask for help.

Thank you, Matt and David, for representing our team and helping more people learn about the eTMS Program!

This Fire Prevention Week, we’re thinking about the people behind the gear. 🚒❤️

Firefighters and first responders train to protect others every day. But the stress of the job doesn’t always stay at work.

Changes in sleep, anxiety, low mood, and the effects of trauma deserve support, too.

Through the eTMS Program, eligible veterans, first responders, and law enforcement professionals may have access to brain-health care at no cost.

The first step is simply finding out if you qualify.

👉 Visit jlcservicesinc.net/etms to learn more or start an eligibility conversation.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988. If there is immediate danger, call 911. eTMS is not an emergency or crisis-response service.

This Mental Illness Awareness Week, we’re sharing information to help make brain health care easier to understand.

What does the “EEG-guided” part of eTMS mean?

In this video, Dr. Kim explains how an EEG—a recording of the brain’s electrical activity—helps inform a personalized protocol for non-invasive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

She walks through three steps: measuring brain activity, using that information to guide stimulation, and working toward more coordinated brain activity.

Dr. Kim also discusses changes observed in focus, sleep, and emotional regulation. Individual experiences and treatment outcomes vary.

At JLC Services, we believe clear information helps people feel more informed about their care options.

What does a 64.5% decrease in anxiety scores mean?

We use a short questionnaire called the GAD-7 to track reported anxiety symptoms. In selected first-round records across JLC, average scores dropped by nearly two-thirds from the first assessment to the latest.

These findings come from the August 25 JLC-wide outcomes report. Individual results vary.

JLC offers eTMS at no cost to qualifying veterans, first responders, and law enforcement officers in Ohio and Florida.

Sometimes progress shows up in everyday moments at home.

In this video, Annie Thomas, the spouse of a veteran and volunteer firefighter, shares changes she noticed during her husband’s eTMS experience.

Coming to bed at a more regular time. Feeling calmer during outings together. Responding with less anger to things that once upset him.

Annie also speaks about the impact on spouses—and the importance of empathy and understanding for what each person is carrying.

This is one family’s experience. Individual results vary.
