There are a lot of skincare products on the market.

But having the right ingredient on the front of the bottle doesn’t automatically make it an effective product.

Formulation matters. Concentration matters. Quality matters.

You can have two products that both say “niacinamide” and have two completely different experiences and outcomes based on how that ingredient is formulated and delivered.

When I created Glo by Glen Skincare, I wasn’t creating products just to put another skincare line on the shelf.

I made them for me.

And I don’t compromise on quality when it comes to what I put on my own skin.

Your hyaluronic acid may not be hydrating your skin the way you think it is. 👀

And this is exactly why I always say: the ingredient on the bottle is only part of the story. The formulation matters.

Hyaluronic acid comes in different molecular weights, and those differences affect how it interacts with the skin. Larger molecules primarily work at the surface, helping attract water and support hydration, while smaller molecular weights can reach deeper layers of the skin.

This is why I prefer mixed molecular weight hyaluronic acid.

By combining different molecular sizes, we can support hydration at multiple levels rather than relying on one molecular weight alone.

So the next time you see “hyaluronic acid” on the front of a bottle, look a little deeper.

I made it for me. You guys just happen to have access to it. 🤭

Glo by Glen Skin wasn’t created around a trend or because I simply wanted to launch a skincare line.

I created the products I wanted to use on my own skin.

The concentrations I wanted.
The ingredients I believed in.
The textures I wanted to reach for every day.
The results I wanted to see in the mirror.

And yes, I still use them. Religiously.

There’s something different about creating a product when you’re also the customer. I’m not recommending a routine from the sidelines these are the formulas sitting on my own bathroom counter.

So technically, this is my skincare routine…

Two prescription skincare ingredients you should be careful when combining. 👀

Tretinoin and hydroquinone are powerful ingredients for addressing acne, texture, and hyperpigmentation but how you use them matters.

When introducing these actives, I often recommend alternating nights to minimize irritation and protect the skin barrier.

✨ Tretinoin: Start low, go slow, and consider the sandwich method (moisturizer → tretinoin → moisturizer).

✨ Hydroquinone: Use as prescribed to target hyperpigmentation and dark spots, particularly in melanin-rich skin.

While these ingredients can be prescribed together, not every skin type tolerates the same routine.

And remember, daily SPF is nonnegotiable. ☀️

Effective skincare isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what’s right for your skin.

A 12-step skincare routine? Absolutely not. 😅

More products don’t automatically mean better skin.

My routine is typically 3–5 intentional steps, and I take the same approach with my patients. If you’re new to medical-grade skincare, sometimes we’ll introduce one serum at a time and allow your skin to adjust before adding anything else.

Why?

Because throwing multiple new actives at your skin at once can lead to irritation and when your skin doesn’t feel good, you’re far less likely to stay consistent with your routine.

And consistency is where results are built.

Start simple.
Introduce actives intentionally.
Pay attention to how your skin responds.
Build from there.

You don’t need the entire kitchen sink on your face.

You need the right products, in the right order, for your skin.
