What if savasana isn’t the end of the practice, but the doorway? 🧘

We’re thrilled to welcome Ishan Tigunait from Himalayan Institute to the AYC Member Education series for live workshop:

Teaching from Stillness: Bringing Yogic Meditation into Your Classes

📅 Wednesday, November 4
⏰ 1–2 PM ET
💻 Live online + free for AYC premium and pro members

Meditation was developed by yogis, yet many students leave yoga class to learn it somewhere else. Ishan, Executive Director of the Himalayan Institute, will explore how meditation grows naturally out of asana and breath, share practical ways to weave it into your classes, and close with a short guided Vishoka Meditation® practice.

Whether you already end class with a few minutes of stillness or have never taught meditation, you’ll leave with a clear place to begin.

What does a studio owner with 21 years behind her get out of a business program?

Like a lot of long-time owners, Liz Lawrence Delaney owner of Greenville Yoga has had seasons where she wondered if she was doing things right, or if her studio would stay relevant.

For her, the answer was inspiration. Time with other owners in the AYC Studio Business Accelerator, in her words, “brought me hope that I know what I’m doing and that there’s still things I can do and I can create.” Now, she says, “I wake up inspired every day around my studio and our teachers and our community.”

In the Accelerator, owners work through marketing, systems, pricing and leadership together, with Shannon McCasland | Yoga Studio Coach and Andrew Tanner from AYC leading the program.

Early bird enrollment for our 2027 cohorts opens for a short time in November. It’s the biggest savings we’ll offer for 2027. If you own a studio and want to join the Studio Business Accelerator next year, get on the waitlist through the link in our bio. You’ll be first to know when it opens.

A bachelor’s, a master’s and a PhD, all renamed “a degree.” That’s how one teacher put it, and it’s stuck with us.

We think the years you’ve taught, the classes you’ve led and the depth you’ve built should all count. Slides 4 and 5 show our take: how AYC does it. Now we want yours.

What do you want your credential to show? Comment a letter (or two), and tell us why if you have a minute.

A: Training hours
B: Teaching experience (years and classes taught)
C: What you can demonstrate
D: Something else (tell us)

We’re reading every comment. Your answers help shape what we’re building next at AYC, and our next posts will answer the biggest questions you ask here.

Not everything in your yoga teacher training needs to be taught live. 💡

We’re thrilled to welcome Sage Rountree to the AYC Member Education series for a free, live workshop:

Using Technology to Create Better Learning Experiences

📅 Wednesday, October 28
⏰ 1–2 PM ET
💻 Live online + free to attend

Technology can make yoga education more flexible and accessible, but more tools don’t automatically mean better learning. Sage will share how to choose the right formats for in-person, online, and hybrid teaching, from what to teach live to what works better as a recording or self-paced resource.

Whether you lead workshops, continuing education, or yoga teacher trainings, you’ll leave with practical ideas you can use right away.

Your comments this week have been full of great questions. What does AYC actually do for yoga professionals? What does it cost? How do you hold schools accountable? Will the work I put into my RYT 200 or 500 still be recognized? Is the revenue share an MLM?

Bring them straight to Andrew Tanner

Every Tuesday at 4 PM ET, our founder and CEO Andrew Tanner hosts a live AYC Open House on Zoom. It’s 50 minutes to ask anything, hear how our standards and credentials work, and decide for yourself whether AYC is a fit. No pressure. Just real answers.

You’ll also learn about our member benefits, business clinics, education calendar, new business health plan for yoga professionals and more.

Next sessions: Tuesday, October 20 and Tuesday, October 27.

Save your spot through the link in our bio. Can’t make Tuesdays? DM us and we’ll set up a time that works for you.

When they said I could write my own training’s standards… 💃🏾

It took me 17 years to create my own teacher training. The standards at Yoga Alliance never fit my heart-forward teaching style, and I wasn’t willing to water it down to check someone else’s boxes.

AYC let me build the program I actually want to teach, with integrity.

My school defines exactly what our graduates learn, in our own style, and AYC holds us accountable to delivering it.

My students know exactly what they’re signing up for, and I finally get to teach it my way.

My next teacher training at Urban Asanas starts February 2027. Want in? DM for details. 🙌🏾

And if you’ve been sitting on a training of your own for years, this is your sign.

It’s been a busy week over here at AYC, and you probably know exactly why.

Mostly, though, it’s been a hard week for a lot of yoga teachers. We’ve read the posts and the comment sections, and one thing comes up again and again: you spent years and real money on your training, and you want that work to count. That’s fair.

We’re not here to pile on. But this conversation about what a credential should mean is long overdue.

That’s why we built AYC on a different idea.

Your experience should count. Your AYC level reflects the years you’ve taught and the classes you’ve led, not just the hours you spent in a training.

Schools set the standard, and we hold them to it. Every accredited school lists the competencies its graduates need, in its own lineage and style. When graduates verify their training, we confirm those competencies. Standards, without everyone teaching the same way.

Your credential isn’t a rental. Once it’s verified, it’s yours.

Your dues don’t disappear. 40% is set aside for your school and up to five mentors you choose. Not an MLM. One level, no recruiting, nothing to sell.

And the support keeps going after training ends: monthly live education, business clinics, access to health coverage, and a team that actually replies.

You never needed anyone’s permission to teach yoga. If you want a professional home that recognizes what you’ve built, and wants to lift our industry up alongside you, we’d love to show you around.

Questions? Ask below and we’ll answer publicly so everyone benefits. Want to talk it through 1:1? Book a call with our team. Links in bio.

Every cue you give answers a question your student hasn’t had the chance to ask yet.

Sometimes that’s exactly what they need. A clear instruction can make a pose feel safe and doable. But with too much instruction, students start waiting to be told what they feel instead of noticing it for themselves.

So where’s the line between guiding and getting in the way?

Leslie Kaminoff (Leslie Kaminoff), co-author of Yoga Anatomy, is joining us this month for a free live workshop on that question. The workshop covers how to give instruction students can trust while leaving them room to explore their own experience.
