Barefoot in the pumpkin patch
Making cornbread from love and scratch
Abundance doesn't always come in the form of money or luxury items.
Sometimes it comes in the form of love, support, or community.
Sometimes it comes in the form of resources, opportunities, or experiences.
For me, it often shows up in the form of nutritious food or gifts of the Earth.
Like pumpkins.
What makes this so obviously special is that we didn't ask for these. We didn't intentionally plant them or tend to them. Foster started to water them occasionally when we realized what they were but we mostly left it up to nature.
This is our second house to produce an unintentional pumpkin patch.
Organically.
Just as it's designed.
All we had to do was not mow them down.
A gentle reminder to show gratitude for the unexpected abundance as well as the requested.
Because I "requested" that some financial things be sorted out...
To have more healthy and nutritious things for my family without the stress of other expenses.
And to be able to give freely!
Most of the time, I expect that original resource to be in the form of money.
But instead of money, I got pumpkins.
How convenient.
A nutritous food source known for being shared, growing in my yard.
No need to plan, or source it out, or pick it up, or stress about the packaging and waste.
Just pumpkins.
Pumpkins for...
Meals
Snacks
Drinks
Treats
Seeds
Gifts.
Pumpkins for sharing!
We made pumpkin cornbread with our first pick. We also roasted the seeds of course.
We'll probably make pumpkin cookies and pumpkin spiced tea tonight.
We have a Harvest Celebration planned for some new friends to enjoy our patch with us.
Unexpected abundance meeting my exact requests.
