Elder Independence Home Care is looking for a highly skilled, dependable caregiver for a client in the North Little Rock/Jacksonville area.

This position requires an experienced caregiver who is comfortable and proficient using a Hoyer lift. There are also small pets in the home, so applicants should be comfortable around animals.

🕗 Hours: 8 am – 8 pm or divided shifts
📅 Schedule: Primarily weekdays
📍 Location: NLR/Jacksonville area
💜 Hoyer lift experience required

𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨. 𝙁𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜.

When caring for someone with dementia, you may hear things that you know aren’t accurate. Your first instinct might be to correct them — but trying to convince them of the facts can sometimes lead to confusion, frustration, or distress.

Instead, listen for the 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴.

If they’re worried, offer reassurance. If they’re looking for someone, acknowledge that they miss that person. If they believe they need to be somewhere, gently redirect the conversation or activity rather than insisting they’re mistaken.

A calm response like “𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲. 𝗜’𝗺 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂.” can often be more comforting than explaining why they’re wrong.

With dementia care, being kind is often more important than being correct. 💜
