Fully Wireless Means Fully Protected

Traditional patient monitoring systems often focus on what happens during an alarm.

But what happens before the alarm matters just as much.

Every cord introduces another opportunity for disconnection, removal, damage, restriction, or human error.

That’s why the Parasol® Wireless Fall Prevention System was designed as a truly wireless platform, including:

✅ Bed monitoring
✅ Chair monitoring
✅ Wheelchair monitoring
✅ Toilet monitoring
✅ Wireless nurse call integration
✅ Wireless seatbelt monitoring

Patient safety shouldn’t depend on remembering to reconnect a wire.

The fewer manual steps required, the fewer opportunities for something to go wrong.

Celebrating Pharmacy Month:

Recognizing the Teams Behind Patient Safety

October is Pharmacy Month, a time to recognize the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support personnel who work every day to ensure patients receive safe, high-quality medications.

For compounding pharmacies, patient safety extends far beyond the final product.

Every sterile preparation depends on the systems, processes, and people working behind the scenes to maintain a controlled environment and prevent contamination.

Environmental monitoring, personnel qualification, cleanroom certification, aseptic technique training, and media-fill testing all play important roles in supporting a culture of quality.

Use Pharmacy Month as an opportunity to review your environmental monitoring and media-fill programs with your team. Discuss recent trends, celebrate successes, and identify opportunities for continued growth. Recognition and education are powerful tools for strengthening a culture of quality.

Falls Prevention Month may be over, but fall prevention is never seasonal.

At Parasol Medical, we know that reducing fall risk requires year-round vigilance, education, assessment, and intervention.

Every patient room, every informed caregiver, and every proactive clinician contributes to better outcomes and greater independence for those at risk.

Let’s keep the momentum going because patient safety doesn’t follow a calendar.

Every month is Falls Prevention Month.

Glove sanitization is an important contamination-control practice.

However, frequent sanitization cannot compensate for:

poor aseptic technique, excessive touch contamination, or poor workflow design.

Prevent contamination before it occurs.

Make prevention the foundation of your contamination control strategy.

Action Item: Observe one compounding session this week and document every nonessential touch.

Small behavior changes can lead to significant improvements.

Most organizations collect environmental monitoring data.

Fewer organizations analyze trends effectively.

USP monitoring is not just about identifying excursions — it is also about recognizing changes before these excursions occur.

Learn how to spot emerging trends and act on them accordingly.

Today we recognize the pharmacists whose expertise, dedication, and attention to detail help keep patients safe every day.

From sterile compounding and medication management to patient education and clinical support, pharmacists play a vital role across the continuum of care.

We’re proud to support pharmacists with the tools that help verify, monitor, and document their commitment to patient safety.

Happy World Pharmacists Day, and thank you for all you do.

Using technology to reduces harm.

Mitigate Human Error

The wireless fall prevention system has proven highly effective in reducing the human errors common with wired setups. With the previous system, staff often developed workarounds, leading to incomplete or incorrect chair alarm settings. The wireless system now greatly reduces these errors, helping ensure each setup is accurate and effective.

Reduce Alarm Fatigue

The trial data underscores the positive impact of the wireless system on fall prevention.

Reduce Error Rates

A pretrial audit of the hospital system found that as many as 18% of patients monitored with a wired system were not properly connected.

In the trial unit using the wireless system, only two potential alarm failures were reported out of nearly 1,000 uses, compared to the control unit with the wired system, which documented over 166 improper chair alarm setups, reducing disconnection related setups by 98.8%.

Lower Potential Harm Incidents

The wireless system significantly reduced potential harm events by providing real-time alerts and a simplified setup that minimizes the chance of human error.

Improve Staff Response Time.

A Success Story From VA North Texas Health Care System.

In May 2020, the facility implemented the Parasol Wireless Fall Prevention system in a 30-bed rehab unit with the aim of enhancing patient safety and reducing fall-related injuries.

The staff call light response time decreased from 1 minute and 17 seconds to 59 seconds, a 23.5% reduction. This means staff were alerted and addressed the patient almost 20 seconds faster.
