Not everyone in your life is meant to stay, and learning to tell the difference early saves you a lot of heartache.

Leaf people are only in your life for a short season. They are not villains, they are simply passing through. They take what they need from the relationship, then move on when the season changes. The mistake is expecting a leaf to behave like a root.

Branch people look strong, and often are, right up until things get genuinely difficult. They stay for a while, sometimes a long while, but they tend to break away or disappear exactly when the weight gets heavy. You find out who was a branch the same week you find out who was a root.

Root people are the most important people in your life, and usually the ones who say the least about how important they are. Their support is genuine, not performed for an audience. They stay through every season, the easy ones and the hard ones, without needing to be asked twice.

The heartbreak in most people's lives is not that leaf and branch people existed. It is expecting root-level loyalty from people who were only ever leaves.

Look at your own circle honestly.

Water the roots. Let the leaves fall when it is their season.

Self-neglect rarely looks dramatic. It looks like skipping the small things, one at a time, until the version of you that used to take care of herself feels distant.

Stay hydrated, and adjust to your own body rather than a fixed number everyone quotes. Eat to support your body, not to restrict it, which is a very different relationship with food than most of us were taught.

Move often. Walking is exercise too, and it counts even when it does not feel like a real workout. Prioritize sleep, because it shapes nearly everything else on this list more than people give it credit for.

Keep up basic hygiene, consistency matters most, more than doing any single part of it perfectly. Pay attention to your mental health too, since stress and burnout are just as real as anything physical.

Keep your space functional, not perfect. A workable space serves you better than an aspirational one you never quite achieve.

Clearer thinking follows from self-care, in a very literal, practical sense. Take action even when motivation is low, because motivation tends to follow action rather than precede it.

Small, consistent habits shape long term energy far more than the occasional big gesture. You do not have to fix everything at once, and trying to usually backfires.

And invest in yourself daily. The results build slowly, then arrive all at once, which is exactly why the daily part matters more than the size of any single effort.

Pick one from this list.

Start there today.

Do not give up because your spouse is not changing. GOD can change your spouse—but first, be willing to let HIM change you. HE can reconcile hearts as you and your spouse turn back to HIM, repent, and forgive one another as the LORD has forgiven you, without keeping a record of wrongs.

Fight for the transformation GOD desires in you. Fight to walk in forgiveness. Fight to surrender pride, selfishness, anger, bitterness, resentment, and every attitude that stands against love. And fight to become more like CHRIST—to be holy because HE is holy. Protect your covenant while allowing GOD to transform your heart.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 - "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."

In 2 Corinthians 12:7, the Apostle Paul is writing about “ the thorn in his flesh.” , describing it as a "messenger of Satan" sent to torment him and keep him humble.

Paul explains the thorn was given to stop him from becoming too proud after experiencing extraordinary visions from God.

Paul begged the Lord three times to take the affliction away from him.

God did not remove it, telling Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness".

Paul nor God ever reveal in scripture what the thorn was. Many theories believe it was a physical alignment of some kind, I have heard other theories that it could’ve been a battle with something of the flesh.

We have all been given a thorn in our flesh. One that God permits to stay with us. Some people battle physical issues, some mental health issues, and/or spiritual battles and some deal with more than one.

If God had healed Paul, would Paul still have kept faith and needed God? If God were to heal us of our “thorn” would we still go to him often?

Probably not, because in our weakened state is when we are the most humble and that’s when we find the most strength in God ✨

Sometimes, disconnecting is necessary.

put the phone down.
stop checking who stayed.
stop wondering who left.
stop refreshing conversations
that only leave you feeling empty.

for a while,
let the world exist without you.

you do not have to know
what everyone is doing.
you do not have to respond
to everyone.
you do not have to be available
every second of the day.

come back to yourself.

sit with your thoughts.
drink your coffee slowly.
take a walk.
breathe without rushing.

because if you keep giving pieces of yourself
to everyone else,

one day you might realize
you have forgotten
how to keep something
for yourself.

Trying to Make Everyone Happy But Yourself

Being a people pleaser is a sure road to unhappiness.
On the outside, it can look like being easy-going, caring, and flexible.
But on the inside, it’s often driven by fear of rejection, low self-worth, and denying your own needs.

The Dalai Lama advises us to be wise selfish—to practice self-compassion.
That means setting boundaries, honoring your feelings, and caring for yourself first. Because only then can you truly show up for others in a healthy way.

Some weight is not yours to keep carrying, even after you have gotten used to the shape of it.

People who only show up when things are easy. Fair weather is not the same as loyalty, and it is worth noticing the difference before you keep score wrong.

The habit of over-explaining a simple no. One sentence is enough. The paragraph after it is usually guilt talking, not clarity.

A version of yourself that no longer fits. You are allowed to have outgrown who you used to be, without treating it as a betrayal of that person.

Fear of a future that has not happened yet. Most of what you rehearse in your head never actually arrives in that shape.

Guilt over decisions made with limited information. You could not have known then what you know now. That is not a character flaw, it is just how time works.

The pressure to look put together at all times. Nobody is keeping score the way you imagine they are.

Pity that has stayed longer than it helped. There is a point where feeling sorry for yourself stops being comfort and starts being a place to live.

Shaping yourself around what others expect. It is exhausting to be a slightly different person in every room.

And editing every sentence before you say it. The real version usually lands better than the seventeen drafts you ran in your head first.

You will not release all nine at once.

Pick the one that felt heaviest reading this, and set it down today.

7 WAYS TO HONOR GOD WITH YOUR EATING

FROM A CHRISTIAN NUTRITIONIST

The way you eat IS an act of worship.

Jesus does not just get your Sunday mornings, Bible studies, worship songs, and Instagram bio.

He gets your appetite, your pantry, your portions, and what you reach for when you are stressed, lonely, bored, or exhausted.

Eating is discipleship.

Here is what that looks like:
⠀
1️⃣ REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN.

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

It is not yours to destroy, neglect, hate, worship, or use however you feel.

You were bought with a price. Ownership changes the way you eat.

1 Corinthians 6:19–20
⠀
2️⃣ EAT THE FOOD GOD CREATED TO NOURISH YOU.

God gave us what grows from the earth and what moves upon it.

Ask one simple question:

What did God create, and what did man do to it?

Build 90% of what you eat around God Food as close to His original design as possible.

Genesis 1:29 and Genesis 9:3
⠀
3️⃣ EAT UNTIL SATISFIED, NOT STUFFED.

God gave us food to nourish, strengthen, sustain, and celebrate.

He did not give it to us so we could eat until our hearts and bodies were overcharged.

Enjoy your food. Eat enough. Then stop when you are satisfied.

Luke 21:34
⠀
4️⃣ STOP TURNING YOUR PANTRY INTO A PRAYER CLOSET.

When you are stressed, lonely, hurt, or exhausted, are you running to your Father first or food first?

Food is not your comforter.

The Holy Spirit is.

Food can distract you for 90 seconds. It cannot give you peace.

2 Corinthians 1:3–4 and John 14:26
⠀
5️⃣ KEEP SPECIAL THINGS SPECIAL.

Temple Keepers understand how to feast, fast, and eat everyday fare.

There is a place for birthday cake, ice cream with your kids, and meals shared in celebration.

But when every night is a treat, nothing is special anymore.

Feast on purpose. Then return to everyday God Food.

Ecclesiastes 10:17
⠀
6️⃣ RECEIVE FOOD WITH THANKSGIVING, NOT SHAME.

Thank God for what He provided.

If you miss the mark, do not hide, punish yourself, or turn one choice into a week of overeating.

Conviction says, “Come here. We are dealing with this because I love you.”

Receive His grace and choose obedience again at your next meal.

1 Timothy 4:4–5 and Romans 8:1
⠀
7️⃣ ASK WHAT OBEDIENCE LOOKS LIKE TODAY.

Not perfection.

Not punishment.

Not chasing a number because you hate the body in the mirror.

Ask:

Father, what does obedience look like in the body You gave me today?

Then do that.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

1 Corinthians 10:31
⠀
The way you eat IS worship. 🙏🏻✨

“PAUSE FOR A SECOND…”

Sometimes you keep asking, “Why did they change?”
when the better question is:

“What did I finally stop allowing?”

People can treat you differently when they realize
the version of you that tolerated everything is gone.

Have you ever noticed this in your own life?

Let's heal🫂❤️
