CMV Public Health and Policy Conference Come hear the latest updates on cytomegalovirus (CMV) research; public health initiatives for CMV aw

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the most common congenital infection found in developed countries. Pregnant women who contract CMV can pass the virus onto their unborn baby, which can result in multiple disabilities including: hearing loss, vision loss, poor brain growth, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and, in rare cases, fetal death. Recognizing the lack of awareness about CMV and its potential devastating effects on babies, Utah lawmakers led the nation by passing a bill that directs the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) to establish a public education program to raise awareness about CMV and ways to prevent its spread. As part of the education effort, UDOH, public health advocates, and healthcare providers came together to share ideas of how to get the CMV message out to women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. The Cytomegalovirus Public Health & Policy Conference is part of this effort. The goal of the conference is to provide education, delineate prevention efforts, offer information about early intervention options, help other states in replicating Utah's policy efforts, and disseminate family support resources in an effort to reduce the number of babies born with CMV and connect families affected by CMV with the resources they need to improve their quality of life.

Some messages are too important not to deliver! ❤️

Whether it's a handwritten letter, a text, a sign, or a simple gesture, communication comes in many forms — and every connection matters. 💙

💭 Here's a little Friday question: What's the most meaningful piece of mail you've ever received?

A love letter? A handwritten note? An unexpected surprise? We'd love to hear! 💌

Every baby’s journey is different. 💙

Newborn hearing screening is an important first step—helping families get information and connect with resources and support early.

Screen early. Identify early. Support early.
Every child. Every journey.

Some conference takeaways stay with you long after the session ends. 💙

At the 2026 EHDI Conference, the D/HH Teen and Young Adult Panel shared their experiences with self-advocacy, identity, accommodations and learning to recognize what works for them.

Their confidence in speaking up for what they need was a powerful reminder: knowing what works for you is one thing — having the confidence to advocate for it is a superpower. ⚡

That’s what makes EHDI so special. You never quite know which session, conversation or story will shift your perspective and follow you home.

What superpower will YOU take away from EHDI 2027? 💙

A little Positive Thinking Day energy to carry into Monday. 💙

As we start a new week, here’s a simple reminder: our thoughts can shape how we approach the challenges, opportunities and people in front of us.

We may not be able to control everything the week brings, but we can choose what we bring to it. ✨

Here’s to starting the week with a little more optimism, encouragement and possibility.
