Many challenges for people living with polycythemia vera (PV) can go unseen by those around them.

Patti knows that firsthand. While extreme fatigue, itching and aches can make her days harder and require her to adjust her plans, she hasn’t always allowed her family to see the extent of the impact.

During Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing Patti’s story to help bring visibility to the experience of living with PV.

People living with blood cancer are at the heart of why our work matters.

This month, wore red in honor of Blood Cancer Awareness Month and Myeloproliferative Neoplasms Awareness Day. We stand with patients, caregivers and advocates as we work to advance meaningful new treatment options.

For people living with polycythemia vera (PV), common symptoms, including extreme fatigue and itching, can often go unnoticed by even their loved ones. These “invisible” symptoms combined with the variability of patient experience with this blood cancer can lead to feelings of isolation and a difficult path to diagnosis.

In this video, Takeda’s Teresa Bitetti, President, Global Oncology Business Unit, joins MPN Research Foundation's CEO, Kapila Viges, to talk about the experience of living with PV, from managing unrecognized symptoms to navigating care.

At our Oncology Town Hall, Daad, living with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), sat down with Michael Sapienza, CEO of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, and Rushi Potdar, Chief Medical Officer, Global Oncology at Takeda, to discuss the growing impact of CRC on patients and families.

Their conversation highlighted the essential role of advocacy groups in helping to address the physical and emotional burdens of managing their disease, especially given that 79% of mCRC patients report feeling alone in their experience, as reported by the 2024 Harris Poll Survey. The discussion highlighted the value of engaging these groups early and keeping the patient perspective at the forefront for providers, industry, and policymakers, especially as we work to bring innovative treatments to patients more quickly.
