One of the biggest things I prioritized before conceiving was building up my iron stores.
Especially in those early weeks of pregnancy, your body is drawing on mom’s nutrient reserves to support the developing baby.
I’ve been seeing SO much low ferritin lately, with women being told, “Oh, it’s fine.” But ferritin matters for energy, oxygen delivery, thyroid function, fertility, and pregnancy.
That said, I’m not a fan of blindly supplementing iron without assessing digestion, gut health, inflammation, and potential pathogens. These can all contribute to iron imbalances, and more iron isn’t always the answer.
The goal is to understand WHY your iron is low, not just chase a number.
Highly recommend working with a skilled practitioner who understands this area (hi, it’s me 😽) to build and maintain healthy iron stores, whether your goals are cycle support, ovulation, pregnancy, energy, or postpartum recovery.
