You can love someone, mean every word you say, and still teach them not to trust you.

For adults with ADHD, that gap between intention and action can become one of the most painful parts of a relationship.

You want to show up. You want to keep your promises. You want your partner or parent to know that they matter to you.

But when the same thing happens repeatedly, good intentions can become harder to trust.

Eventually, the other person may stop believing you. And you might start questioning yourself, too.

This is where understanding ADHD matters. Not to excuse the impact of our actions, but to understand what's happening and find ways to close that gap.

Because wanting to change is important. Learning how to turn that intention into consistent action is where the real work begins.

If ADHD is affecting your relationships or the way you show up in business, ADHD coaching can help you find strategies that work with your brain instead of constantly fighting against it.

ADHD doesn't always look the way we expect it to.

We often picture the hyperactive little boy. But what about the girl who learns to mask her struggles, push harder, and put everyone else's needs before her own?

In this conversation, Dr. Marilu and I explore how ADHD can show up differently in men and women, and how traditional gender roles can shape the way people manage—or hide—their challenges.

Because sometimes, what looks like “having it together” is actually someone working twice as hard to keep everything from falling apart.

And of course, these are patterns, not rules. ADHD doesn't look the same for everyone.

Watch the full conversation with Dr. Marilu on ADHD in the Wild to explore the connection between ADHD, masking, and relationships.

Ever wondered why rejection can feel so personal with ADHD
even when you don't know for sure that you've done anything wrong?

In this episode of ADHD in the Wild, Dr. Marilu and I unpack how RSD can shape your self-worth, trigger emotional reactions, and affect the way you show up in your relationships.

If you've ever spiraled over a short reply, taken feedback as proof you're not good enough, or pushed someone away because you felt rejected, this conversation will help you understand what's happening beneath the reaction

and what you can start doing differently.

We talk a lot about the time we “waste” when we have ADHD.

But what about the energy we spend avoiding, ruminating, feeling shame, and beating ourselves up about that wasted time?

That takes energy too.

And the more practiced we become at negative self-talk, the easier it becomes to fall back into it. It can almost feel automatic.

The shift isn’t about never having those thoughts again.

It’s about noticing when you’re caught in that loop and practicing a different response.

And if you can practice that with someone who understands how your brain works, even better.

If this is something you’re struggling with, I’d be happy to help.

What’s the point of having more ideas if you never give one a real shot?
If your desk, garage, or browser tabs are full of unfinished things - this is for you.

Comment “me” if you’ve ever had 10 ideas and zero energy to move on one.

We do this weird thing where we call it being “busy,” but a lot of the time it’s just learned helplessness.

We’ve tried so many times, so we stop trusting ourselves.

We keep collecting ideas instead of building proof.

And then we wonder why nothing changes.

I’m not saying stop exploring.

I’m saying pick one thing and let it be ugly, messy, and real long enough to matter.

Another hobby.
Another business idea.
Another course you signed up for that’s now sitting in your inbox.

Sound familiar?

For ADHD entrepreneurs, having ideas is rarely the problem. The challenge is deciding which ones deserve our time, energy, and resources

and which ones need to wait.

Sometimes getting unstuck means asking ourselves questions that aren't nearly as exciting as chasing a new idea. What’s the point of this project? What will it take? And what does success actually look like for me?

In Episode 5 of ADHD in the Wild, I explore how to set boundaries around our ideas, make intentional decisions, and move forward without adding more to the pile.

You don't have to pursue every idea. You need to decide what matters right now.

People with ADHD would rather start an entirely new business than do the one task they’ve been avoiding in their current one.

A new idea? Exciting.
A new venture? Endless possibilities.
Following up on that email, tackling admin, or having a difficult conversation?
Suddenly, it feels like climbing a mountain.

Our ADHD brains love to diverge, explore possibilities, and chase that next hit of excitement. But when it comes to converging on a specific task and following through on multiple steps, the resistance can feel almost physical.

And sometimes, we’ll go as far as creating an entirely new business just to avoid doing the work in the one we already have.

The question is: Are you chasing your next big idea because it’s an opportunity, or because you’re avoiding something uncomfortable?

Have you ever had something really important to do…

…and suddenly your brain becomes incredibly interested in literally anything else?

That email you've been avoiding.

Reorganizing your files.

Researching a new system.

Helping someone with something completely unrelated.

Taking up a new hobby.

Anything except the thing sitting directly in front of you.

I've done it.

And the more we repeat that pattern, the easier it becomes to follow.

There's often something underneath the avoidance:

Maybe the next step isn't actually clear.

Maybe there's emotional resistance.

Maybe the task feels too big.

Maybe you're afraid of the outcome.

Maybe your brain just found something that feels easier and more rewarding right now.

And for entrepreneurs, there's another layer:

We often have almost complete control over our own structure.

We set the hours.
We set the deadlines.
We set the priorities.

That freedom is one of the reasons we wanted to build our own business in the first place.

But without enough structure, that same freedom can make avoidance incredibly easy.

So the question isn't always:

“Why can't I just focus?”

Sometimes the better question is:

“What am I avoiding right now?”

That's a much more useful place to start.

That's what I unpack in Episode 4 of ADHD in the Wild.

We know we need to delegate. We know we can't do everything ourselves. So why is it so damn hard to actually let go?

For entrepreneurs with ADHD, delegation can feel like more work than just doing the task ourselves.

Perfectionism, unrealistic expectations, and the feeling that explaining something will take longer than doing it can keep us stuck doing everything.

Delegation isn't just about handing off tasks. It's about learning how to clarify what needs to get done so someone else can take it on.

We shouldn't have to navigate every executive function alone.

Where do you struggle most with delegation?

You worked all day.

Six hours. Eight hours. Ten hours.

Maybe you skipped lunch. Maybe you told yourself you'd stop after “just one more thing.”

And then you look back at the day and realize the thing that actually mattered… still didn't get done.

I've been there.

For me, this wasn't about not caring or not working hard enough. It became a huge part of my overwhelm and exhaustion.

And the frustrating part is that there isn't always one simple answer.

Sometimes it's your sleep.
Sometimes it's your physical state.
Sometimes there's emotional noise you're carrying.
Sometimes the task isn't actually clear enough.
And sometimes there's one specific thing you're avoiding that is quietly holding everything else up.

So before you tell yourself, “I just need more discipline,” stop and look at what's actually happening.

Because being busy and making progress are not the same thing.

That's what we're digging into in Episode 4 of ADHD in the Wild.

Why You're Always Busy But Still Not Getting Important Things Done.

Watch the full episode and start looking at the pattern instead of beating yourself up for it.
