When in doubt… just track.

Whether you’re trying to lose body fat or gain muscle, one of the best things you can do is measure and track what you eat and drink.

It’s really that simple.

I’ve coached hundreds of people over my career, and one thing has consistently held true: the clients who diligently track day after day, week after week, are the ones who get results.

Here’s how to get started with fat loss:

1. Take your body weight in pounds and multiply it by:
* 10 if you’re sedentary
* 12 if you exercise 3x per week
* 14 if you exercise 4+ times per week
This gives you a starting estimate for your daily calorie intake.
2. Record your starting scale weight and circumference measurements.
3. Track your calorie intake consistently for one month, then remeasure and assess your progress.
4. If your weight and measurements haven’t changed, consider reducing your daily intake by another 200 calories. Track for another month and reassess.

Consistency gives you data. Data helps you make informed adjustments.

Save this for future reference and follow me for more practical strength and nutrition tips for women.

What kind of healthcare do you want to invest in?

Option 1: Invest in your health now.

Nutritious food. Massage therapy. Chiropractic care. Supplements. A gym membership. A personal trainer. A nutritionist. Fitness classes.

These are investments that can help you build strength, maintain mobility, and preserve your quality of life as you age.

Option 2: Pay for the consequences later.

Medications. Physical therapy. Medical devices. Treatments and interventions. Surgeries. Assisted living. In-home nursing care.

These expenses can be significantly more costly, both financially and emotionally.

Of course, not every health condition is preventable. But the way you care for yourself today can influence how you feel, function, and live in the years ahead.

The more you invest in your health now, the better your chances of maintaining your independence and quality of life later.

❤️ If you are investing in your health now.

If you’re tracking your food Monday through Thursday, then completely falling off come Friday, you may be doing yourself a huge disservice.

Let’s think this through.

If you’re maintaining a 300–500 calorie deficit each day Monday through Thursday, that’s a 1,200–2,000 calorie deficit for the week.

Then Friday through Sunday, you’re eating 500+ calories over maintenance each day. That’s 1,500+ calories of surplus over the weekend.

You could erase most of the deficit you created during the week!

I’ve seen clients fall into this trap all the time.

They track diligently during the week, then stop tracking on the weekend because it feels too difficult with social activities, meals out, and random snacking.

Then we take their monthly measurements and they’re exactly the same as the month before.

Tracking gives you awareness and clarity.

Even if your weekend tracking isn’t 100% accurate, it can show you whether your weekends are the problem, not the week as a whole. When you understand this better you can start making smarter choices to keep you at a deficit even over the weekend, or at the very least away from a surplus.

Practical weekend tracking strategies:

• Track your food before you go out when possible.
• Estimate restaurant meals instead of skipping them completely.
• Prioritize protein and vegetables at meals.
• Leave some calories available for meals or drinks you know are coming.
• If you overeat at one meal, don’t turn it into an entire weekend. Just get back on track at the next meal.

Good coaching is knowing when to push and when to pull back.

Some days you need to adjust, give yourself some grace, and meet yourself where you are. Other days, you need someone who knows you well enough to recognize when you’re capable of more.

That’s my approach to coaching.

It’s not about perfection or pushing harder every session. It’s about building consistency, sustainable habits, and strength that carries into everyday life.

Here’s what she had to say:

“Working with Andrea has been one of the best investments I’ve made in my health. She has helped me stay accountable to my strength training in a way that’s both motivating and sustainable. Rather than expecting perfection, she focuses on small, realistic changes to my nutrition that have naturally led to better daily decisions and long-term habits.

What truly sets her apart is how she shows up every single session. She meets me with compassion and flexibility on the days when life is heavy and I genuinely need to adjust. But she also knows me well enough to recognize when I’m simply making excuses—and that’s when she challenges me to push through. That balance of empathy and accountability has made all the difference.

I leave every session feeling stronger, more confident, and supported.”

This is what coaching should be about. Not just workouts and nutrition plans, but helping you build a stronger, healthier version of yourself in a way that actually fits your life.

They don’t know where to start.

They know the benefits. They know they should be lifting weights. But when it comes to actually taking action, they feel overwhelmed, unsure, and sometimes completely paralyzed.

So they put it off. And another month goes by, and another year.

That’s exactly why I created True Strength: a 3-month beginner strength training program specifically for women 35+.

Here’s what’s included:

* 2 progressive full-body strength workouts per week
* Guided warm-ups, mobility, and movement prep
* Power and strength training to build muscle, strength, and athleticism
* Monthly progressions to help you build confidence and get stronger
* 2 optional conditioning workouts to complement your strength training
* Clear guidance so you know what to do, how to do it, and how to progress

I was tired of seeing women miss out on the benefits of strength training simply because they didn’t know where to begin.

Especially when we know how important building and maintaining muscle is for bone density, longevity, reducing frailty, and supporting metabolic and cardiovascular health.

Don’t let the fear of uncertainty keep you from taking action.

The w**e glasses that say:

“you got this mama”
“Mommy juice”
“Because they whine”

I’ve never really understood the mindset behind it.

Why are we celebrating the idea that motherhood is something we need to drink our way through?

When I became a parent, I stopped drinking because I realized I couldn’t show up for my son the way I wanted to if I was drinking around him.

But over time, I also realized alcohol wasn’t just affecting me while I was drinking. It was affecting me the next day, too.

My sleep suffered.
My reactivity increased.
My patience decreased.
And ultimately, my parenting was compromised.

One of the last times I drank, I remember being too tired and drained to really play with my son at the park the next day.

After ONE glass of w**e the night before. That was a pretty clear wake-up call. I realized alcohol was taking away from my connection with my son.

So instead…

I’m subscribing to creatine mom culture.

Creatine can support:

Brain energy + cognitive function
Cellular energy
Strength + muscle recovery
Resilience when life gets demanding

And for moms who are constantly giving to everyone else, I think supporting our own bodies needs to stop being an afterthought.

I don’t want a drink that helps me escape motherhood. I want habits that help me show up better for it.

This is me nearly 20 years ago.

I had just earned my personal training certification, and I was eager to start helping people live healthier lives.

I wanted to help clients build a better relationship with food, exercise, and themselves.

To experience the positive impact that eating well and exercising consistently can have—not just on their long-term health, but on how they feel and show up in the rest of their lives.

Because I had experienced it myself.

Fast forward 20+ years.

I’ve coached hundreds of clients and thousands of training sessions.

And you know which clients have always been some of my favorites to coach?

The beginners.

Here’s why:

I get to teach them how to lift correctly from the beginning—without having to undo years of questionable advice.

I get to teach them the fundamentals and build a strong foundation they can carry with them for years.

And I get to help shape their relationship with exercise from the start.

No punishing workouts.
No “go hard or go home.”
No random exercises thrown together because they look good on Instagram.

Just smart, progressive strength training that teaches you how to train.

That’s exactly why the first stand-alone program I created is for the beginner lifter.

I took more than 20 years of lifting and coaching experience and created the program I wish I’d had when I was starting out.

True Strength is a 3-month progressive strength training and conditioning program designed specifically for beginner lifters and women who are returning to strength training after a long break.

You’ll learn the fundamentals, build strength, improve your conditioning, and progress over three months without needing a fully equipped gym.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and learn how to actually strength train, this is where I’d start.

True Strength is open for enrollment.
