😣 Are your shoulders always up near your ears, even when you're trying to relax?

You might be carrying more tension than you realize!

When you're stressed, your body can automatically tighten certain muscles as part of its natural alert response.

The problem? Sometimes those muscles stay tense even after the stressful moment has passed.

Here are 3 signs worth noticing:

⬆️ 1. SHOULDERS STAY RAISED

When you're worried, overwhelmed, or concentrating intensely, you may unconsciously lift your shoulders toward your ears.

Holding this position can make your neck and shoulder muscles work harder than necessary.

💻 2. NECK FEELS STIFF AFTER WORK

Spending hours looking at a screen, leaning forward, or holding your head in the same position can overload certain muscles.

Stress may add even more tension, making stiffness more noticeable by the end of the day.

😮‍💨 3. SHOULDERS FEEL TIGHT EVEN WHEN RESTING

Repeated muscle tension can become a habit. You may continue tightening your shoulders without noticing, even while sitting comfortably.

💡 WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANXIOUS STRESS?

Your brain and muscles are constantly communicating.

When your body senses stress, it prepares you to respond by increasing alertness and muscle tension.

Traditional Chinese Medicine also considers persistent physical tightness alongside frustration, worry, and emotional stress.

Try this quick body check:

Relax your jaw, gently lower your shoulders, and take a few slow, comfortable breaths.

Notice whether your shoulders were raised before you consciously relaxed them.

Recognizing these physical habits is one way to become more aware of how anxious stress affects your body.

Blood pressure going up? Jimmy “Acu Sensei” Yen has another QRA™ technique for you—and this one comes with a funny reminder: “Your radius, NOT your anus!” 😂

Jimmy demonstrates a technique along the radius bone, located on the thumb side of your forearm, which he associates with the Kidney system in his wellness approach.

Here's how:

• Check your blood pressure before starting.
• Locate the radius bone on the thumb side of your forearm.
• Slowly explore along the bone, moving from your wrist toward your elbow.
• Find the most tender spots along the way.
• Apply firm, comfortable pressure and massage for 60 seconds.
• Check your blood pressure again afterward.
• If you don't notice a change, Jimmy suggests exploring another tender spot and repeating.

This technique is intended to complement your existing blood pressure care, not replace prescribed medications. Blood pressure readings can fluctuate, and changes after massage don't necessarily establish that the technique lowered your blood pressure.

Remember: Radius, NOT A**s! 😄

🥶 Do your hands and feet feel freezing, even when you're indoors?

Cold hands and feet can happen for several reasons, including room temperature, circulation, and how your nervous system responds to stress.

But here's something interesting!

😟 1. STRESS CAN AFFECT BLOOD FLOW

When you're anxious, your body activates its natural alert response.

This can temporarily narrow blood vessels near your skin, reducing warmth in your fingers and toes.

🔋 2. ANXIOUS STRESS CAN COME WITH EXHAUSTION

Not everyone feels restless or full of nervous energy.

Some people experience worry alongside fatigue, poor concentration, and feeling physically drained.

Jimmy “Acu Sensei” Yen calls this broader experience Low-Reserve anxious stress.

🧠 3. YOUR PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCES MAY OVERLAP

When you're exhausted, everyday challenges may feel harder to manage.

Traditional Chinese Medicine considers coldness, energy levels, sleep, and emotional well-being together when looking at overall health.

🌙 4. PAY ATTENTION TO WHEN IT HAPPENS

Are your hands cold during stressful conversations?

Do your feet become colder after sitting still for hours?

Noticing these patterns may help you identify everyday triggers.

💡 THE TAKEAWAY:

Anxious stress doesn't always look like panic or racing thoughts. Sometimes, it comes with exhaustion and physical discomfort.

However, persistent cold hands or feet may have other causes, including circulation or thyroid problems.

🧦 Do your socks leave deep marks around your ankles?

Those lines might reveal more than how tight your socks are!

Your ankles can provide clues about how your body manages fluid, especially after long periods of sitting or standing.

Here are 3 signs worth noticing:

🟢 1. LIGHT MARKS THAT FADE QUICKLY

Shallow lines that disappear shortly after removing your socks are usually caused by normal pressure from the elastic.

🟠 2. DEEP MARKS WITH PUFFY ANKLES

Deep impressions accompanied by swelling may indicate fluid collecting in the tissues around your ankles.

This can happen after prolonged inactivity, although persistent swelling may have other medical causes.

🌙 3. MARKS THAT GET DEEPER BY EVENING

Gravity can cause fluid to collect in your lower legs throughout the day, particularly when you spend hours sitting or standing.

💡 WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANXIOUS STRESS?

When you're overwhelmed, you might spend hours sitting at your desk, overthinking, or focusing on responsibilities without taking movement breaks.

Remaining still for long periods can make it harder for fluid to move back up from your legs, sometimes contributing to ankle swelling.

Traditional Chinese Medicine also considers fluid balance, everyday energy, and emotional well-being together when looking at overall health.

The takeaway?

Supporting your emotional wellness also means paying attention to daily habits that support your physical health.

Take regular movement breaks, change positions, and notice whether swelling improves overnight.

😟 Why can anxious stress leave you mentally exhausted AND physically drained?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), practitioners look at how emotional stress, digestion, energy, and sleep may be connected.

Three traditional body systems are commonly considered when anxious stress occurs alongside exhaustion.

🍽️ 1. DIGESTION & EVERYDAY ENERGY

When you're constantly worrying or overthinking, you may also notice:

• Mental fatigue
• Difficulty concentrating
• Low energy
• Digestive discomfort

TCM traditionally connects digestion with the body's ability to turn food into nourishment and maintain everyday energy.

🔋 2. ENERGY RESERVES & STRESS RESILIENCE

Some people feel anxious but also physically depleted.

They may experience:

• Poor sleep
• Fatigue or weakness
• Feeling overwhelmed easily
• Night sweats or lower-back discomfort

TCM traditionally considers the body's ability to conserve energy and recover from daily demands when exploring these patterns.

❤️ 3. CIRCULATION & EMOTIONAL STEADINESS

Anxious stress can sometimes occur alongside:

• A noticeable heartbeat
• Restlessness
• Difficulty sleeping
• Feeling emotionally unsettled

TCM traditionally considers emotional steadiness and physical sensations together.

💡 HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART:

Jimmy “Acu Sensei” Yen describes Low-Reserve anxious stress as feeling worried or overwhelmed while also having very little energy left.

These traditional body systems are broader concepts, not the same as medical diagnoses involving your organs.

Understanding emotional wellness means looking at the whole picture!

🗣️ Did you know your voice can change when you're stressed, exhausted, or physically uncomfortable?

Your voice depends on airflow, vocal cord movement, and the muscles involved in speaking.

Changes in any of these can affect how your voice sounds and feels.

Here are 5 clues worth noticing:

🔉 1. WEAK OR QUIET VOICE

Fatigue or reduced breath support can make speaking at your usual volume feel more difficult.

🗣️ 2. HOARSE OR RASPY VOICE

Your vocal cords need to vibrate smoothly to produce a clear sound. Irritation, inflammation, or overuse can make your voice sound rough.

😰 3. SHAKY VOICE WHEN NERVOUS

Stress can change your breathing and tighten the muscles involved in speaking, sometimes causing your voice to tremble.

🎵 4. VOICE CRACKS FREQUENTLY

Sudden changes in vocal cord tension or breath control can make your voice unexpectedly shift in pitch.

🔋 5. VOICE GETS TIRED QUICKLY

Speaking for long periods, especially with excessive muscle tension, can strain your voice and make continued talking uncomfortable.

💡 How does this connect to emotional wellness?

When you're anxious, your breathing may become faster or shallower, and your throat muscles may tighten.

This can make your voice sound shaky, strained, or less steady than usual.

Traditional Chinese Medicine also considers breathing, energy, and emotional stress together when exploring changes in the voice.

A simple habit: Take comfortable breathing pauses, stay hydrated, and avoid forcing your voice when it feels strained.
