At our Quarterly All‑Staff meetings, we always begin by grounding ourselves in purpose. Recently, we had the privilege of hearing from Shannon Boule, whose son Spencer received a life‑saving heart transplant at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Shannon shared Spencer’s journey from learning of his rare condition, endocardial fibroelastosis, to watching it progress into restrictive cardiomyopathy. After eight long months in the hospital and time spent on the national transplant waiting list, Spencer received the gift that changed everything: a donor heart.

In the summer of 2025, Trinity Medical had the honor of delivering Spencer’s new heart to Boston Children’s. Moments like this remind us why our work matters. Organ donation and transplantation is complex, deeply human, and built on the dedication of so many, from OPO partners to transplant teams to the families who say “yes” in the hardest moment of their lives. Our mission is intertwined with theirs. Together, we help save lives.

Today, Spencer is 18 months old, thriving, walking, and home with his family. A second chance made possible by a generous donor.

Thank you, Shannon, for reminding us why our work matters.

Every minute counts. Now, the FAA is helping ensure every donated organ gets where it’s needed—faster and safer.

This past month, the FAA has issued a pivotal report outlining 20 comprehensive recommendations that improve efficiency, safety, and reliability of transporting lifesaving organs via commercial air.

As Trinity had sitting members in the committee, we are happy to contribute to a landmark milestone in streamlining the organ donation process.

Key improvements include:

• Streamlined check-in, boarding, and dedicated seating for transplant professionals
• Standardized labeling and tamper-evident packaging for organ shipments
• Real-time coordination between couriers, airlines, and airport personnel
• Utilization of MEDEVAC call signs to expedite air traffic movement
• Enhanced training for TSA, airline, and airport staff
• A centralized digital resource to support stakeholders across the transport chain

This past Saturday, we honored the gift of life, and called attention to the generosity of donor heroes, their families, and all donation recipients.
