As the days get shorter and the weather changes, you may notice changes in your mood, energy, sleep, or motivation.
For some, these changes go beyond the occasional winter blues. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a form of depression that follows a seasonal pattern and can significantly affect daily life.
The good news? SAD is treatable, and you don't have to wait for the seasons to change to feel better.
If you notice a recurring pattern in how you feel as the seasons change, take it seriously. You deserve support.

Psychiatrist, therapist, or ADHD coach—which one do you need?

The good news? You don't necessarily have to choose just one.
Each professional brings something different to the table:

Psychiatrists can diagnose and treat ADHD, including medication management and behavioral strategies. They can help address co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety.

Therapists can help with ADHD-focused CBT, emotional regulation, anxiety, and perfectionism that often accompany ADHD.

ADHD coaches can help turn strategies into action by building routines, improving organization, developing habits, and troubleshooting everyday challenges.

The goal isn't just to improve attention—it's to make daily life more manageable.

Psychiatrist, therapist, or ADHD coach—which one do you need?

If you have ADHD, or suspect you might, figuring out where to turn for help can feel overwhelming.

Why do you need help from more than one professional? Because knowing what to do and consistently doing it are two entirely different things.
Medication helps with core ADHD symptoms. Therapy can address emotional and behavioral patterns. Coaching can help you build practical systems that work in everyday life.
The right combination depends on your individual needs. The goal isn't just to improve attention—it's to make daily life more manageable.

The Hidden Symptoms of ADHD: The emotional and everyday challenges we don't talk about enough

Maybe some things you thought to be personality trait are actually part of your ADHD.
Instead of looking distracted, hyperactive, or impulsive, ADHD sometimes it looks like:

Reacting very strongly to a minor disappointment
Getting disproportionately annoyed by little things
Feeling distraught by criticism or rejection
Getting overstimulated when there’s “too much” happening
Having emotional ups and downs that even you don't understand
Feeling like an outsider—even when you’re part of the group
Sharing way more than you meant to and immediately regretting it
Constantly feeling like you're running behind and can't keep up

These symptoms are not typically associated with ADHD, and can be easily misunderstood.
You may begin to believe-
"I'm too sensitive."
"I'm too emotional."
"Why can't I handle things better?"
"Everyone else seems to be keeping up. Why can't I?"

But ADHD is about more than attention.
Emotional regulation, overwhelm, impulsivity, and executive-function challenges can all shape how ADHD feels in everyday life.
Sometimes understanding the pattern is the first step toward changing your story.
❤️ If this sounds familiar, save this post. And send it to someone who might see themselves in it.
