Day 3 at The Menopause Society meeting, and this was my favorite day yet. 🧠

Heart health, bladder health, bleeding, and new non-hormonal options were all covered in one day. It reminded me how much ground menopause care covers, and how much good we can do when we look at the whole woman.

I’m bringing all of this home to my patients. If you want care built on the latest evidence, I’m now seeing patients in New York, Michigan, and North Carolina. My practice is concierge, so you won’t wait months for an appointment. The link to book is in my bio.

Hit follow so you don’t miss what’s next. Stay tuned!

If no one warned you how sad you might feel after giving birth, this week’s episode is for you.

St. John’s University professor and communication researcher Dr. Sakina Jangbar joins me to talk about the loneliness so many women feel during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. We also talked about why the conversation should start in your OB’s office, so you know what’s coming and can ask for the support you need.

Day one at The Menopause Society Annual Meeting! 🩷

This year’s theme is “Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice,” Lifestyle Medicine for Menopause.

I come every year to this conference because I want the newest evidence so I can bring it straight to you.

What stayed with me today: so much of midlife health comes down to small, daily habits. It’s also important to understand what happens when estrogen drops and how it affects your body.

More pearls coming over the next few days. Follow along so you don’t miss them!

Drop any emoji if sleep has been your biggest struggle lately. I want to know what you’d like me to ask the experts while I’m here! ☺️

It’s funny how some women call others “lucky” because they feel better in menopause, but these ‘lucky’ women spent months learning about MHT, discussing the benefits and risks with their provider, and giving themselves the opportunity to see whether treatment was right for them…
and those women had the courage to take the first step:
asking about their options.

Caption:
MHT isn’t right for every woman.

But you’ll never know whether it’s an appropriate option for you if you’re too afraid to ask.

And while you’re here, come celebrate with us 🍂

Our second annual Friendsgiving Potluck is on Thursday, November 12, at 6 PM at our office. Bring a dish to share, bring a friend or two, and bring something for the food pantry we’re supporting this season. RSVP by November 8 (link in bio).

If you’ve been wondering whether MHT could help you, let this be your first step.

Book a consultation with me, and we’ll go through your symptoms, your history, and the benefits and risks together, so you can decide what’s right for your body. Booking link is in my bio. 🔗

I used to dream about the life I’m living right now.

Today is my birthday, and I’m feeling all of it.

There was a girl who dreamed of becoming a doctor. She was curious and quietly determined, and she wanted more than she knew how to say out loud. She didn’t have the whole map. She just knew she wanted to help women feel seen.

There was a medical student who wasn’t sure she’d make it. She studied late into the night, doubted herself more times than she can count, and kept showing up anyway. I still remember how it felt to finally hear “Doctor” in front of my name.

There was a young OB/GYN who delivered babies, cared for women through every stage of life, and kept noticing the same thing. The questions women most needed to ask were the ones they were too embarrassed to bring up: questions about pain, desire, their bodies changing in midlife. She wondered if she was even allowed to talk about those things.

There was a woman who whispered “s*xual health” to her sister like it was a secret. Her sister whispered back, “Go for it.” Those three words gave me permission I couldn’t give myself. So I went back to learning. I became an ISSWSH Fellow, a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and a s*xual counselor.

There was a woman who said “absolutely not” to starting a podcast, and then said yes. The Muslim S*x Podcast has now reached more than 128,000 downloads in 51 countries.

There was a woman University of Michigan-Dearborn chose as Distinguished Alumna of the Year (Alumni Difference Maker) in 2024 and invited back to deliver the commencement address in December 2025. A woman who stood on a TEDx Oshkosh stage and talked about s*x education.

And there’s the woman I am today..

After more than 26 years in women’s health, I built Femme Vie Health so midlife women could have what they deserve: time, answers, and a doctor who listens. When a patient tells me, “No one ever explained this to me before,” I remember exactly why that little girl started dreaming.

I’m all of them. And I’m so proud of her.

To my patients, my podcast listeners and everyone who has trusted me with their story: you’ve given me a life full of purpose. Thank you for letting me walk alongside you. This next year, I’m still listening, still learning and still saying the things that need to be said out loud.

Today we celebrate, and we also speak up. 💗

Happy World Menopause Day! Since 2009, the International Menopause Society has marked October 18 as a day to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind women that support exists.

This year’s theme: Chronic Pain at Midlife.

Here’s what I want every woman to hear today:
✨ Achy joints, headaches, and pelvic pain at midlife are worth bringing up with your doctor.
✨ Pain with s*x is a medical concern, and there are options to help.
✨ You’re allowed to ask questions until you get answers that make sense to you.

Menopause is a natural stage of life, reached after 12 months without a period. Living in pain shouldn’t come with it as the price.

Save this for your next appointment, and share it with a friend, sister, or mom who has been quietly putting up with pain.

Happy World Menopause Day 🩷

To mark it, I am revisiting some of the most important menopause conversations from the podcast. That includes the new AUA guidelines on Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), complex menopause cases with specialist Dr. Jordan Emont, and the timing window for starting hormones.

Highlighted episodes:

🎥 New GSM Guidelines: Understanding & Treating Menopause Symptoms

🎥 Navigating Complex Menopause with Dr. Jordan Emont and Why Painful S*x is Never Just Part of Aging

🎥 Updates in Menopausal Hormone Therapy: Transdermal Estrogen, Breast Cancer Risk, & Testosterone

Gratitude feels different in midlife. You know what matters, and you know who matters.

This year I want to say thank you the best way I know how: with good food, good company and donating canned goods to a local food pantry.

Join us Thursday, November 12 at 6 PM. RSVP by November 8. Link in bio. 🩷

I’m honored to be part of “Body Language”, CNN’s new 8-part documentary series hosted by Pamela Brown. It’s an honest look at the uncomfortable, unspoken, and sometimes absurd health experiences in women’s lives.

The series covers what so many of my patients tell me in the exam room:

- Why perimenopause gets missed, misdiagnosed, or brushed off as “just stress”
- The gap in medical training around libido, arousal, and s*xual wellbeing
- Bias in how some procedures are offered to women
- The real side effects of medications like GLP-1s

For years, women have been told their symptoms are in their heads. Seeing these conversations on a national platform means a lot to me, because this is the work I do every single day.

📺 Watch now on CNN All Access, CNN.com, and the CNN app.

Watch it, then come back and tell me in the comments: which topic hit closest to home for you? 👇

Midlife isn’t supposed to be something you simply endure.
And needing help doesn’t make you less strong.

It means you finally stopped accepting feeling terrible as the price of being a woman. 🩷
