Holidays can often be loaded with so many expectations. The perfect costume, party invite, social group, Instagram photo. Just focus on showing up, not on it being perfect!

If you are finding yourself in the thick of it this fall with activities, business, family obligations, sports, etc. I hope you can find encouragement in this.

Moments of connection are available to you at home.

Maybe it's a new question at the dinner table, or slowing down to talk more than logistics.

Connection can be in moments; you don't have to wait for a solid 3 hour block of time. (Chances are, that will never happen!)

There is nothing wrong with protecting yourself.

But sometimes, after we've been hurt, protection can become disconnection.

A boundary doesn't require us to shut someone out. It allows us to stay connected to ourselves while remaining in relationship with another person.

The work isn't always learning how to have stronger boundaries.

Sometimes it's learning how to tell the difference between protection and avoidance.

đź“– **Kinship Book Recommendation: *No Bad Parts* by Richard Schwartz**

What if the parts of yourself you wish you could get rid of aren't actually the problem?

The anxious part.
The critical part.
The part that shuts down.
The part that overthinks.
The part that people-pleases.
The part that gets angry.

Instead of judging these parts as “bad,” *No Bad Parts* invites us to become curious about them.

What is this part trying to protect?
What does it need?
When did it learn that this was the safest way to respond?

This is at the heart of Internal Family Systems (IFS): **we are not broken or made up of bad parts.** Even the parts of us that create pain often developed with the intention of helping us survive, cope, or stay connected.

Healing doesn't necessarily mean getting rid of the parts we don't like.

Sometimes it means turning toward them with enough compassion and curiosity to understand them.

A beautiful read for anyone wanting to better understand themselves—and a wonderful introduction to the IFS approach. 🤍

You don't have to wait until you're falling apart to need support.

You don't have to be in crisis.

You don't have to have a clear diagnosis.

You don't have to be struggling “enough.”

And you certainly don't have to wait until you can't carry it anymore.

Sometimes therapy is simply a place to pause.

To notice what's been building beneath the surface.
To make sense of patterns you've been living with for years.

To have someone sit with you while you find your way through something difficult.

To reconnect with yourself, your needs, and the people you love.

Support isn't only for when things feel unbearable.

Sometimes, reaching out earlier is an act of care.

**You are allowed to ask for support simply because something feels hard.** 🤍

“Trust the process” can sometimes sound like a reminder to stop worrying and believe that everything will work out.

But therapy asks us into something a little different.
We don't always know how things will unfold.
We don't always get the outcome we hoped for.
And we can't always see what's waiting around the corner.

Trusting the process isn't about certainty.

It's about learning that we can stay present with ourselves in the uncertainty.

We can feel what we feel.
We can listen to what we need.
We can take the next step without knowing every step that comes after it.

Sometimes trusting the process simply means:
**I don't know what happens next.
But I trust myself to stay with myself as I find out.** 🤍

We have made it to Fall! If you are in the South, (or maybe anywhere these days), the change to fall and cooler temps is so needed!!

The change of seasons and the shift to fall can bring with it a lot of big emotions and movement. How are you really doing? Take a minute and ask yourself, really check in with yourself. Is there something you can do to support yourself today or this week in response to how you are showing up?

Give yourself all the permission to care for yourself in this season.

Relationships don't usually fall apart because of one big moment.

More often, connection gets lost in the small moments.

The conversation that keeps getting postponed.

The hug that doesn't happen because everyone is rushing.

The question we don't ask because we're too tired to hear the answer.

The conflict we never come back to repair.

Life gets busy. Stress gets heavy. And sometimes the people we love most receive whatever capacity we have left.

But connection doesn't always require a grand gesture.
Sometimes it's:
*"Tell me about your day."*
*"I noticed we've been feeling disconnected."*
*"Can I sit with you?"*
*"I'm sorry. Can we try that again?"*

Small moments of turning toward each other matter.

Because secure relationships aren't built through perfection.

They're built through thousands of little moments of connection, curiosity, and repair.

What's one small way you could turn toward someone you love this week? 🤍

Secure attachment doesn't mean you never get angry.

It doesn't mean you never get triggered.

It doesn't mean you always communicate perfectly.

It means you can begin to move toward connection—even when things feel hard.

It sounds like:
*"I'm upset, but I still want to understand you."*
*"I need some space, but I'm not leaving."*
*"That hurt me. Can we talk about it?"*
*"I see how my actions impacted you."*
*"I'm sorry. Can we try again?"*
*"We're on the same team."*

Secure attachment isn't about getting relationships right all the time.

It's about knowing that disconnection doesn't have to be the end of the story.
We can learn to turn toward one another again.
We can repair.
We can build something safer, one conversation at a time. 🤍
