Women can lose about 30% of their skin collagen during the first five years of menopause 🧬

That can show up as thinner skin, more visible lines, less firmness, and changes around the jawline and eyes.

Topical treatments can support collagen production, but they cannot completely replace the structural collagen that has already been lost 🌿

That is why I prefer looking at skin aging alongside hormones, nutrition, sun exposure, and the treatments that are actually appropriate for the individual 🔬

Intermittent fasting can work for some people, but by 50 I want to know a few things first 🩺

1️⃣ Are you on medication that can lower blood sugar?

2️⃣ Are you protecting muscle with enough protein and resistance training? 💪

3️⃣ Are you still eating enough to meet your nutritional needs?

4️⃣ Do you have a history of disordered eating?

5️⃣ Does fasting actually fit your sleep, training, medications, and lifestyle?

At VYVE, I would look at body composition, metabolic markers, and your health history before deciding whether fasting belongs in your plan 🔬

You can be iron deficient before your hemoglobin ever falls into the anemic range, which is why I do not look at hemoglobin alone when the symptoms fit 🩸

1️⃣ Your energy can fall hard
Iron deficiency without anemia has been associated with fatigue, poor concentration, and reduced work performance 🧠

2️⃣ Stairs can suddenly feel much harder
Low iron can contribute to reduced exercise tolerance and breathlessness, especially as the deficiency becomes more significant

3️⃣ Your hair can start shedding
Iron deficiency is one of the conditions physicians consider when someone develops diffuse hair shedding, particularly when ferritin is low 💇‍♀️

4️⃣ Restless legs, headaches, dizziness, or palpitations can start appearing
These symptoms are not specific to iron deficiency, so they need to be interpreted alongside the appropriate blood work 🩺

Ferritin and transferrin saturation can tell us things a CBC alone cannot, and the reason your iron is low still needs to be identified before treatment starts 🔬

VYVE does offer IV iron, but IV replacement should be used when medically appropriate, such as when oral iron is ineffective, poorly tolerated, or unsuitable for the clinical situation 💉

Your immune system changes as you get older, and by your fifties I care a lot about the habits that help it keep doing its job well 🦠

1️⃣ Stay current with the vaccines recommended for your age and medical history 💉
2️⃣ Protect your sleep instead of treating five or six hours as normal 😴
3️⃣ Exercise consistently because regular physical activity is associated with lower risk of community-acquired infections 🏃
4️⃣ Eat enough protein and a varied diet that provides the vitamins and minerals immune cells depend on 🥗
5️⃣ Do not smoke because to***co damages respiratory defenses and increases infection risk 🚭
6️⃣ Keep alcohol moderate because heavier intake can impair immune function 🍷
7️⃣ Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes because poor metabolic control can make infections harder on the body 🩺
8️⃣ Give your body enough recovery instead of staying under continuous physical and psychological stress 🧠

There is no IV, supplement, or wellness treatment that makes someone immune to getting sick.

At VYVE, supportive therapies can be personalized around an individual’s nutritional status, recovery, and medical needs, but the foundation still matters 🔬

The number on the scale can stay almost unchanged while the amount of fat around your abdomen and internal organs moves in the wrong direction ⚖️

That matters because visceral fat is associated with insulin resistance, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, and other cardiometabolic risks ❤️

These are areas I would look at when somebody’s waist is changing despite thinking they are doing everything right

1️⃣ Spending most of the day sitting and not getting enough aerobic activity 🚶
2️⃣ Losing muscle because resistance training has disappeared from the routine 🏋️
3️⃣ Eating more energy than the body is using consistently, even when the foods themselves are marketed as healthy 🍽️
4️⃣ Sleeping poorly enough that appetite, recovery, and metabolic health start suffering 😴
5️⃣ Ignoring midlife hormone changes that can shift fat toward the abdomen, particularly during the menopause transition 🧬
6️⃣ Trusting a stable scale weight while never measuring waist circumference or body composition 📏

The American Heart Association recognizes abdominal and visceral fat as cardiovascular risk markers even when BMI does not look especially concerning.

At VYVE, InBody testing and our physician-guided metabolic programs give us more information than the bathroom scale alone 🔬

If the routine that worked in your 30s suddenly feels less effective during perimenopause, there are real physiological changes worth accounting for 🌡️

Midlife aging contributes to weight gain, while declining estrogen changes where fat is stored and favors more abdominal and visceral fat around the menopause transition 📈

That changes what I pay attention to with patients

→ Preserve muscle with regular resistance training and adequate protein 🏋️‍♀️
→ Keep aerobic movement in the week because physical activity helps reduce visceral fat and protect cardiometabolic health 🚶‍♀️
→ Get serious about sleep, especially if night sweats or insomnia are cutting into recovery 😴
→ Look at body composition and metabolic markers instead of judging progress from scale weight alone 🔬
→ Review menopause symptoms and hormones when clinically appropriate rather than assuming every change is caused by age 🩺

Hormone therapy can be appropriate for menopause symptoms in selected women, but I would not prescribe it as a weight loss treatment.

At VYVE, we can combine hormone evaluation with body composition testing and physician-guided metabolic care when that is what the patient actually needs 🧬

If your part is getting wider or you are seeing more scalp through the crown, I would want to know why before recommending another shampoo or supplement 💇‍♀️

I would start by looking at the pattern of loss, how quickly it started, medications, recent illness or weight loss, menopause changes, nutrition, and family history 🩺

If the history points us in that direction, ferritin and thyroid testing may be appropriate because iron deficiency and thyroid disease can contribute to diffuse shedding 🔬

Female pattern hair loss also becomes more common with age and often appears as progressive thinning through the central scalp.

For confirmed female pattern hair loss, topical minoxidil remains a first-line treatment, while other prescription options can be considered depending on the individual 💊

In men, the pattern usually starts at the temples and crown instead, and the treatment options change, which is another reason the diagnosis comes first.

Low-level light therapy also has clinical evidence showing improvements in hair density in some people with pattern hair loss, although I would use it as part of the right diagnosis rather than treating every type of thinning the same way 🔴

VYVE offers infrared light therapy and physician-led skin and hair support, so the treatment plan can be built around what is actually causing the thinning rather than another year of guessing 🧬

If you wake up stiff every morning and keep blaming yesterday’s workout or your age, the pattern matters more than one bad joint day 🦵

1️⃣ Morning stiffness lasts longer than about 30 minutes
2️⃣ A joint looks swollen or feels warm
3️⃣ The pain is still there when you are resting
4️⃣ The same joints on both sides are bothering you
5️⃣ Your hands feel stiff enough to make gripping or making a fist harder
6️⃣ Several joints are involved instead of one old injury
7️⃣ Joint symptoms are showing up alongside unusual fatigue

Inflammatory arthritis can begin before obvious damage appears on a standard X ray, which is why the history, physical exam, blood work, and sometimes ultrasound or MRI can matter 🩺

At VYVE, I would want to understand what is driving the inflammatory pattern before deciding which physician-guided therapies make sense for that individual 🔬

Your calf can play a bigger role in blood sugar control than you might think 🦵

I would use this as a simple way to break up long periods of sitting and support glucose control, especially after meals 🍽️

If your blood pressure is still difficult to control despite doing the basics well, that is when I would look deeper at things like kidney health, sleep apnea, medications, and other possible drivers 🩺
