Okay, but seriously!

I do love Pilates for a lot of reasons. It builds muscle, which matters more as we age. It strengthens my core and improves my posture. It’s easy on my joints. And I leave every class feeling more flexible and balanced than when I walked in.

But if I’m being honest, the cancellation fee is doing some heavy lifting too.

Knowing I’ve committed (and that skipping costs me) is what gets me out the door on the days I’d rather stay on the couch. That’s accountability, and it works for me.

It might not be what works for you. Maybe it’s a workout buddy who’s waiting for you. Maybe it’s a class you already paid for, a morning walk with your dog, or a calendar reminder you treat like a real appointment.

The best workout plan isn’t the “perfect” one. It’s the one you’ll actually show up for.

What keeps you accountable? Tell me below.

Bloated, backed up, or just feeling “off” since perimenopause? It’s not just what you’re eating.

Your gut has receptors for estrogen and progesterone. As those hormones shift, digestion can slow, your gut microbiome can become less diverse, and the gut lining may become more vulnerable. These changes don’t stay in the gut, either. Research links them to shifts in metabolism and heart health.

The good news: what’s happening has a cause, and understanding it is the first step toward feeling like yourself again.

When I was trying to lose weight, I avoided sweets at all costs.

But ignoring what my body wanted never made the craving go away. It just got louder. And when I finally gave in, it was usually a handful of something on the go, barely tasted, and I’d still want more.

What changed was learning to listen instead of fight.

Now when I want something sweet, I let myself have it. But I do it differently:

I listen to my cues. I check in with how I’m feeling before, during, and after, and notice when the craving starts to fade.

I eat without distractions. No phone, no scrolling, no eating while standing at the counter. Just me and what I’m eating.

I take my time. I sit down, slow down, and actually taste it. A few intentional bites are often more satisfying than a handful grabbed in passing.

That’s how I learned to recognize the moment I’m satisfied, and to trust that I can stop there.

Your body is always giving you information. Mindful eating is learning how to hear it.

If listening to those cues feels hard right now, that’s exactly what a dietitian can help with.

Rock beats scissors. Personalized, guided care beats going it alone. 🪨✂️

A lot of people try to piece it together themselves: advice from a Facebook group, a generic meal plan, a lab check once and then nothing. But your body isn’t average, so your plan shouldn’t be either.

With guided care, your plan is built around you: your labs, your food preferences, your lifestyle, and how you’re actually feeling. Nutrition, movement, medication, and monitoring all work together, and it keeps getting adjusted as you progress, because what works in month one might need to change by month three.

Our providers and dietitians are experts for a reason. Meet with one of us and see how far you could go. 💛

Told your iron was “normal” — even though you’ve been exhausted, losing hair, or just not feeling like yourself? That “normal” result might be worth a second look.

In 2026, the American Society of Hematology updated the ferritin cutoff used to diagnose iron deficiency — raising it from 15 ng/mL to 30 ng/mL or lower. That means a result that was considered fine for years might actually meet the current threshold for iron deficiency.

Here’s the part most people don’t realize: iron deficiency and anemia aren’t the same stage. Your iron stores typically run low first — affecting energy and normal cell function — long before hemoglobin drops enough to show up as anemia on a standard CBC. That’s why you can have real symptoms (fatigue, hair shedding, brain fog, low exercise tolerance) while your bloodwork still looks “normal.”

So what should you actually do? Don’t start taking iron on your own — too much can be harmful, and low ferritin has more than one cause. Instead, ask your provider for a full iron panel: ferritin, CBC, and transferrin saturation together. That combination shows the full picture, not just one number.

The guidelines changed. Your levels may have too.

Yeah — women make testosterone too. Not a lot compared to men, but enough that it’s working throughout your body the whole time, whether you’ve thought about it or not.

It plays a role in s*x drive, muscle and strength, bone health, and how you feel day to day — energy, mood, mental clarity. The catch is that low testosterone doesn’t come with one clear symptom. It can look like low libido, fatigue, changes in strength, mood shifts, or trouble sleeping — all things that could just as easily be your thyroid, your sleep, your stress levels, or something else entirely.

That’s the real reason testing matters. Not because one number tells the whole story, but because it’s one more piece of a much bigger picture — your labs, your symptoms, your history, all considered together.

And yes, we know the question everyone actually wants to ask: will it make me grow facial hair? Short answer — that’s a high-dose side effect, and testosterone therapy for women uses a fraction of the dose used for men. Dosing conservatively and monitoring closely is the whole point.

So — should you get it checked? That’s a conversation worth having, not a guess worth making.

There’s a new name showing up in weight-loss research conversations: CagriSema. Here’s what the actual data shows.

It’s a combination of two medications working through different pathways — semaglutide (the GLP-1 you already know) and cagrilintide, which mimics amylin, a fullness hormone your pancreas releases after eating. The idea is that targeting two pathways instead of one could produce a stronger effect than either alone.

In the Phase 3 REDEFINE 1 trial, participants saw an average 20.4% weight reduction over 68 weeks, compared to 3.0% with placebo. Notable numbers — but context matters. When researchers compared it directly to tirzepatide in a 2026 trial, the results were closer than expected (23.0% vs. 25.5%), and CagriSema didn’t quite prove it performs at least as well.

What this really tells us: there’s probably not one “best” medication for everyone. The future of weight management is looking more personalized — different pathways, matched to different people.

CagriSema is still working its way through clinical trials, and we’ll be watching closely as more data comes in.

Most people start a GLP-1 for one reason. They stay for a lot more than that.

Weight loss gets the headline, but the deeper research is more interesting. These medications regulate blood sugar and inflammation — and the ripple effects go further than most people realize.

Cardiovascular risk drops — enough that certain GLP-1s are FDA-approved to lower risk of heart attack and stroke, independent of weight loss.

Sleep improves — one GLP-1 is FDA-approved for moderate-to-severe sleep apnea.

Blood sugar regulation remains the foundation — still the most well-studied benefit of all.

Then there’s brain health — the one everyone’s watching. Researchers are studying a real link between GLP-1 use and lower dementia risk. It’s not an approved use yet, and the data is still developing, but the biological rationale is compelling.

Kidney and liver benefits are following a similar path: promising, still being studied, not yet formal indications.

And less strain on joints — less weight to carry often means real, day-to-day improvement in mobility and comfort.

Most hormone panels happen reactively — after something already feels off. But each marker actually tells a specific story: estrogen and bone health, progesterone and sleep, testosterone and energy, FSH and ovarian reserve, thyroid and metabolism.

Understanding what your panel measures is the first step to knowing what your numbers actually mean. Click the link in our bio to get your numbers checked today.

When perimenopause hits, your body and how you feel can change drastically — even when your lifestyle hasn’t. Same habits, same routine, completely different results. That’s why getting a baseline hormone panel now matters, before symptoms start, not after.

A baseline means you have your own numbers to compare against later, instead of guessing based on a general reference range. Click the link in our bio to get your numbers checked today!
