Hair loss is showing up in children younger than many parents realize.
And hair loss is a symptom, not a diagnosis.
A proper evaluation may include the scalp, medical history, nutrition, recent illness or stress, thyroid health, hormones, vitamin D, iron, and other micronutrients. The right testing depends on the child and their pattern of hair loss.
For certain types of hair loss, red light therapy may also be used as part of a larger plan to support follicles and the hair-growth cycle. But it should never replace identifying the underlying cause.
The earlier you notice changes in shedding, density, or the scalp, the sooner you can ask the right questions.
