Today, October 9, is National Student Pharmacists Day and we are celebrating all student pharmacists around the Nation!
Sending extra shout out to our current student pharmacist and the amazing work she has been doing at our pharmacy.
“Why should pharmacists lead Medicare ACCESS? Because chronic disease management is about people, not just data.
A patient recently reached out to learn more about ACCESS after enrolling in Medicare. They shared that they live with diabetes, move frequently, and had been struggling to get a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) shipped to them. Before even enrolling the patient in the program, we took the time to understand their motivations, concerns, and gaps in care. We helped identify a supplier that accepted their insurance and could ship their CGM to their current location, coordinating the process to help overcome this barrier.
We didn't just look at the numbers; we looked at the person behind them.
Technology can track data and identify opportunities for intervention, but meaningful care requires understanding each patient's circumstances and helping overcome the barriers they face. Pharmacists bring clinical expertise, empathy, advocacy, and accessibility to help patients navigate these real-world challenges. Through ACCESS, pharmacy teams can turn care gaps into meaningful solutions, coordinate care, and build relationships that support better outcomes.
Because better healthcare takes more than data. It takes people who listen, meet patients where they are, and make a difference.”
