Happy MIH Week!

We are incredibly proud to be recognized by the National Association of Mobile Integrated Healthcare Providers - Namihp as an MIH Week Champion for Social Determinants of Health & Health Disparities!

Mobile Integrated Health and Community Paramedicine continue to demonstrate the impact that meeting patients where they are can have—especially for those facing barriers to accessing the care and resources they need. By bringing care directly into our patients’ homes and communities, we have the opportunity to address social determinants of health, connect patients with critical resources, improve access to care, and help prevent avoidable healthcare utilization.

We are proud of the difference the UVA Health Community Paramedicine team has made throughout Charlottesville and the surrounding communities, and even more excited about the relationships, partnerships, and opportunities still ahead.

We couldn’t be prouder or luckier to have Taylor as a founding member of Community Paramedicine. Well deserved and congrats Taylor!

We are incredibly proud to recognize one of our own, Taylor Tereskerz, for being selected as one of just five finalists for the cartermyersautomotive Moving Lives Forward Community Heroes award! 👏

Taylor serves our community Monday–Friday as a Community Paramedic with UVA Health, caring for underserved patients and helping break down barriers to healthcare access. From patient education to connecting individuals with vital social services, Taylor understands that improving health goes far beyond a single medical call.

For the past 15 years, he has also volunteered every Friday night as a Captain with Western Albemarle Rescue Squad—serving consistently since the age of 16. His dedication doesn’t stop there. Taylor helps staff the Mobile Care unit providing primary care in communities like Southwood, secures needed medical supplies through All Blessings Flow, and even assists patients with home safety improvements to prevent future emergencies.

His measurable impact—including reducing unnecessary emergency department visits and improving access to care—demonstrates what true community paramedicine is all about.

A proud UVA alum committed to making the Charlottesville area stronger and healthier, Taylor represents the very best of service and leadership and we are proud to have him as a medic, life member and Captain.

As part of this honor, he was awarded tickets to tonight’s Virginia Cavaliers vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons basketball game. Well deserved, Taylor! 🏀
