JABA Respite & Enrichment Centers (REC) in Charlottesville and Louisa provide a safe, caring, and active environment for loved ones, and a welcome respite for caregivers. JABA’s Respite & Enrichment Centers (REC) located in Charlottesville and Louisa County provide a full day of fun, caring staff, intergenerational activities and outings. While most of our members are older adults (including individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia), we welcome adults age 18+ with disabilities. The JREC - Hillsdale members would like to thank the 7th and 8th grade students from the Quests Program at St. Anne's Belfield School for adding creative, thoughtful messages and designs to our JREC Friendship tree in our main JREC entryway! Students and participants gathered together and created friendship leaves displaying messages of thanks and gratitude, with some fun decor included!

We are so grateful for this intergenerational partnership and the blossoming friendships between students and participants!

Members enjoyed another art class yesterday! They took a random line and used watercolor, sharpie, oil pastels, and tempera paint sticks to make beautiful abstract art. It was a relaxing, meditative project that allowed time for artists to fully express themselves.

PATH has received funding that will significantly expand assistance to eligible residents with transportation needs throughout Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. Eligible applicants include adults age 65 and older and people with disabilities who meet income guidelines and lack another suitable transportation option.

It was all smiles at our Respite & Enrichment Center and Mary Williams Community Center as members were pampered at a spa day with cosmetology students from Louisa! Thank you to the students who volunteered to give manicures, facials, and intergenerational connections.

Our JREC pop-up gallery has some new artwork made by our Hillsdale JREC members.

They were all very proud of their work, rightfully so. After finishing one member exclaimed, "Who knew I could do this!"
