Established on October 13, 1775, we recognize the birthday of the United States Navy. We are grateful for the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country, as well as the families who support them.

At Palliative Care Services, we have the honor of caring for veterans and hearing the stories that shaped their lives. Today, we remember that service is more than a chapter in someone's past; it is part of their story and deserves to be honored.

To all who have served in the U.S. Navy: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

We are taking a moment to recognize the nurses who care for patients during some of life’s most urgent and uncertain moments.

Emergency nurses bring skill, compassion, calm, and courage to every shift; often when patients and families need reassurance most.

From our team to yours: thank you for the difference you make every day.

We are celebrating World Mental Health Day. The 2026 theme, “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” reminds us of the importance of listening to people's stories and making space for honest conversations about mental health.

For patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, emotional well-being matters. Grief, stress, uncertainty, and change can affect us in ways that aren't always visible.

Today, let’s listen without judgment, offer compassion freely, and remind one another that no one has to navigate difficult seasons alone.

Today, Palliative Care Services recognizes World Hospice and Palliative Care Day and the people who make compassionate care possible.

The 2026 theme is “Pain Management: The Essential Part of Palliative Care.” Hospice and palliative care are about more than managing symptoms. They are about listening to patients, supporting families, honoring individual wishes, and helping people experience comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

We celebrate the patients and families we have the privilege to serve and the incredible interdisciplinary teams who walk beside them.

Because every person deserves compassionate care when they need it most.

This National Primary Care Week, we are celebrating the providers who are there through every stage of the healthcare journey.

Primary care providers build relationships, coordinate care, listen to patients and families, and help connect people with the resources they need.

The 2026 theme, “The Future of Primary Care: Expanding Pathways, Strengthening Communities, & Advancing Health Care for All,” reminds us that strong communities begin with accessible, compassionate care.

We are grateful for the primary care professionals who work alongside our team to help patients receive care that is centered on what matters most.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💗

This month, we honor those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer; patients, survivors, caregivers, families, and loved ones.

Awareness is important, but so is action. Regular screenings, knowing your risk, and talking with your healthcare provider can all play an important role in early detection.

Today and throughout October, we stand with everyone affected by breast cancer and encourage our community to prioritize their health.

Celebrating and here to educate you on Fall Prevention Awareness Day 🚶Did you know falls are one of the leading causes of injury among older adults, but many falls can be prevented with simple, practical safety measures.

Whether you’re an older adult, caregiver, health professional, family member, or friend, there are many ways you can help reduce fall risk:

• Have a fall-risk assessment — Talk with a doctor or pharmacist about dizziness, balance concerns, recent stumbles, or other risk factors.
• Review medications — Some medications or combinations can cause dizziness or drowsiness. A medication review can help identify potential risks.
• Make the home safer — Remove loose rugs and clutter, improve lighting on stairs and walkways, and consider grab bars in the bathroom.
• Stay physically active — Strength and balance exercises, including tai chi and appropriate physical therapy programs, can help improve stability and reduce the risk of falls.
• Get your eyes and feet checked — Regular vision checks and well-fitting, supportive footwear can help you move safely and confidently.
• Connect with a falls prevention program — Evidence-based community programs can provide valuable tools and support for staying active and independent.
• Talk openly about falls — Encourage older adults to share concerns or report a fall. Open conversations can help ensure they receive support sooner.
• Share prevention resources — Families and caregivers can work together to identify and address potential risks.

Small steps can make a big difference. This Fall Prevention Awareness Day, let’s work together to help older adults stay safe, strong, active, and independent. 💛
