On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we're highlighting the important role hospice and palliative care play in helping patients and families navigate serious illness.

Both hospice and palliative care focus on comfort, quality of life and support, helping patients receive care that aligns with their goals and wishes. Palliative care can begin at diagnosis and alongside treatment. Hospice care is typically chosen when treatment is no longer working or a patient decides to stop curative treatment for a terminal illness, shifting the focus to comfort, quality of life and support for both the patient and their loved ones.

This weekend we gathered for our Annual Memorial Service to honor and remember the lives of those who touched our hearts in such meaningful ways. 💚

Surrounded by families, friends, and our hospice team, we shared moments of reflection, love, and remembrance. One of the most beautiful parts of the service was the release of butterflies—each one symbolizing the spirit of a loved one, a reminder that while they may no longer be with us physically, their presence continues to live on in our memories.

As the butterflies took flight, it was a powerful and peaceful moment—representing hope, transformation, and the enduring connection we hold with those we’ve lost.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate these incredible lives. It is an honor to walk alongside our patients and families, not only in care, but in remembrance.

Forever remembered. Forever cherished. 🦋

Amedisys Hospice of Chesapeake had the incredible honor of celebrating some of our nation’s heroes through 2 heartfelt Veteran Pinning Ceremonies. 🇺🇸

Amedisys Hospice proudly recognized our veteran patients for their courage, sacrifice, and service to our country. These ceremonies were especially meaningful as we had the privilege of honoring two World War II veterans - true members of the Greatest Generation - whose bravery helped shape the freedoms we enjoy today.

With gratitude and respect, each veteran was presented with a commemorative pin as a symbol of our appreciation. Moments like these remind us that hospice care is not only about comfort, but also about honoring the lives, stories, and legacies of those we serve.

Thank you to our team, the Active Duty Military volunteers who made this ceremony so special, FirstLight Home Care of Virginia Beach, Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital
and most importantly, thank you to our veterans for your service.
We are forever grateful. ❤️🤍💙
