I get asked often why I decided to move my business to Chesapeake. Most of you probably know I am an alum of Chesapeake High School, my daughter attends CMS currently, my wife attended CHS, my parents, step daughter, et cetera. I grew up having dinners just across the street at the dairy bell, in the game room in the back of Monty’s Pizza playing air hockey, in the pews of Rockwood Baptist, and on the bmx dirt trails beside the boat docks. My friend group spent plenty of time with our bikes/skateboards propped up against the very building in which the shop resides as we grabbed a soda and hung out on the sidewalks. To give away my age, as a kid I always carried a calling card to check in at home from the pay phone at Rich Oil.

Our little town was always good to me and offers some kind of memory or nostalgia on almost every little street. To me, it wasn’t a hard decision, I wanted to give back to where I came from. It feels nice to be so close to home, to see so many familiar faces and support the businesses and people around me. We now bank in Chesapeake, our merch comes from a local Chesapeake business, and I’m constantly looking for ways to continue giving back to the community around me. Chesapeake may not offer big city amenities, but it’s got enough soul to keep me around and excited to open my doors every morning.
