How Carrying a Child on Your Hip Adds Up Over Time...

Propping a child on one hip while you cook dinner, answer the door, or just walk across a room, is one of the most natural movements a parent or caregiver makes. But that same natural habit, repeated day after day, can eventually reshape how your spine and hips carry your own weight.

How the cervical spine relates to headaches:
- Cervicogenic headaches: Pain/discomfort originating from cervical structures that radiate from the neck nerves into the back of the head, temples, or behind the eyes.
- Muscle tension: Tightness in the suboccipital )base of the head) muscles and upper trapezius (lower neck/upper back) contributes to head and neck discomfort and pain.
- Restricted joint mobility: Reduced movement in the neck/cervical spine contributes to headache symptoms in patients due to the nerve irritation and changes in blood flow.
- Postural stress: Prolonged computer use, forward-head posture, and sustained neck positions aggravates the symptoms and contributes to more irritation and imbalance.

Imagine trying to consciously control everything your body does throughout the day. You would have to remember when to breathe, tell your heart when to beat, direct circulation and digestion, regulate body temperature, maintain balance, and consciously control countless other activities every second. It would be impossible.
Yet these activities occur continuously without our conscious direction. This reveals something important about life: the organization and coordination expressed through the body do not depend on our conscious understanding or control.
We don’t create this organization, nor do we need to understand it for life to express itself through the body.
This provides an important perspective on the chiropractic objective. Chiropractic does not exist to give the body instructions, tell the body how to function, or improve upon the organization inherent in life.
The principle remains the same: no interference is always preferable to interference. Time to get to the Chiropractor!

How Adjustments Rewire the Brain
How Chiropractic Care Tunes Your Neural Wiring for Better Focus, Mood, and Healing
Most people think chiropractors “move bones.” But the real story lives in the brain.
Your brain runs on maps — dynamic, living representations of your body’s position, tension, and safety at any given moment. These maps live in areas like the cerebellum, prefrontal cortex, and sensory cortex. They tell your brain, “Here’s where you are, how you feel, and what to do next.”

The problem?
Life, stress, and trauma (once and/or cumulative) distort those maps. Old injuries, chronic tension, even prolonged emotional strain can cause the brain to hold onto outdated information — like it’s running old software that no longer matches your current hardware.

That’s where the adjustment comes in.
A chiropractic adjustment is a precise sensory input that wakes up the brain’s awareness of a part of the body that’s gone “offline.”

Heidi Haavik, a leading chiropractic neuroscientist, has shown through EEG and fMRI research that adjustments actually change the way the brain processes information. After an adjustment, the brain communicates more efficiently between regions responsible for movement control, balance, and self-regulation.

In plain language:
The brain literally updates its body map.
Think of it like pressing “refresh” on a glitchy operating system. The new input helps the nervous system release tension, improve coordination, and restore optimal tone throughout the body.
So yes — bones move. But what’s really happening is that the brain reorganizes. And when the brain communicates better, the body follows.

That’s not magic. That’s innate intelligence — your body using new information to heal. Interesting, isn't it?

Whiplash Management Options

Recent studies suggest that in a rear-end collision, the injuries collectively described as whiplash associated disorders (WAD) result from the simultaneous hyperextension of the lower cervical spine and hyperflexion of the upper cervical spine. This can lead to a variety of injuries to the bony and/or soft tissues of the neck, some of which may not manifest for hours, days, or even weeks following a car accident. Read more...

About a quarter of adults experience frequent knee pain, which results in limited function, reduced mobility, and impaired quality of life. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common cause of knee pain in those over 50 years of age, and it is the #1 reason for total knee replacement (TKR). The rate of TKR in the United States and the United Kingdom has increased substantially in recent decades, which many have written off as a consequence of our aging populations. But is that really the case? Read more...

Neck Pain –
What Is Cervical Spinal Stenosis?
Simply put, spinal stenosis describes a narrowing at the openings of the spine. When spinal stenosis exists in the cervical spine, it’s called cervical spinal stenosis (CSS). This condition is usually the result of wear-and-tear or aging, and hence, is most common over the age of 50. However, CSS can occur at any age if a vertebra in the neck sustains a fracture.
